Gran Camping Zarautz Cat.2

General information
Guide price €32.00

The terraced camping site Zarautz is situated on a hill. From the lawn adjacent to the camping site you have a lovely view of the sea, the bay of Harautz and the mountains. This is a lovely spot to watch the sunset. Beach lovers and city visitors are keen to spend a few days here. In summer there is a shuttle bus from the camping site to the well-known water sports resort Zarautz.

Demarcated pitch

On this well maintained camping site, guests have a demarcated pitch at their disposal of between 60 and 90 m2. At the edge of the camping site you have a lovely view of the area. There is a long and steep stairway (441 steps) which leads down to the beach of Zarautz. Once you have negotiated the stairway, you reach a splendid beach where surfers make the most of the waves.

Pot-luck

The restaurant on the camping site is generally perceived as good. You can choose from the menu or go for the table d’hôte, for which the chef prepares a simple but tasty meal. The camping site shop has a fair range of groceries (also daily fresh bread).

Surfers' paradise

The tranquil, large camping site forms a good base for visits to the beach and city trips. There is only a limited range of play equipment and no entertainment programme or swimming pool. None of these are necessary, as there are ample opportunities to play on the beach and swim in the sea.  The waves along the 2 km long beach of Zauratz are popular with surfers. And paragliders love using the hill as a launching spot.

Nice campsite with large pitches and smaller pitches. Toilets and showers were clean and warm in October. Bar was great and food was excellent but not expensive. Great location for surfers.

What a great find. Fantastic views from pitches although a little small. The only concern was the state of the toilets and showers but due to rather disgusting German kids there for the surfing and constantly left the toilets and showers in a very dirty state. Definitely would return though as Zarautz, it is a beautiful location.

Stayed one night on incredibly hot & busy weekend in the area. Nothing to complain about, facilities were good and it did the job, but felt v crowded - motorhome pitches were small compared to other sites we visited on the trip and we got one of last four available. Could hear a lot of noise from the bar which was quite close to our pitch. Would probably be a lovely site on a quieter day. Views are fantastic, long walk to the beach (we didn’t bother, we could hear a very noisy disco/party going on down on the town seafront, could still hear the music from it on our pitch on the opposite side of the site at 1am!), would come back to explore the area which is beautiful but wouldn’t necessarily stay here again.

A beautiful site overlooking the bay. Excellent staff, who were very informative and kind to our dog. We were lucky to have a pitch overlooking the bay and we could see the surfers in the sea from our caravan.

This site was overhyped by reviews we had read somewhere! On arrival, the male receptionist was one of the rudest people we have ever met. Admittedly the weather was bad, he was manning reception on his own, several people had arrived at once and he had to lead each party to their pitch on his scooter before he could deal with the next arrival. Even so, his glaring response of \'listen to me when I am speaking to you\' when I queried why we had to have that particularly awful pitch indeed left us speechless! To get water, we had use taps that were the \'push to open\' variety with no means of fixing a hose to it, very slow flow, and a sore hand by the time the aquaroll was full. The only place to empty the waste was under the same taps but the drain was a foot off the ground! The weather turned worse, the pitch to a bog and we left after two nights. The much acclaimed pitches overlooking the bay were tiny, suitable for small motorhomes only and seemed to be mysteriously reserved for others. However, many were unusable due to the wet conditions. The view though was indeed spectacular.

Stayed 5 nights with a fantastic view over the bay. As an out of season visit it was just right for us. Easy to find, very good staff. Only issue was toilet block wasn't adequately heated.

Great campsite with ample clean facilities. Good Restuarant & bar onsite, lovely location & view although being on a hilltop, rather a hike to nearby town, but recommend.

I actually loved it here - I could imagine you love it or hate it ! - the bar and restaurant very nice, clean facilities, excellent views, over 400 steps down to the beach but it kept us fit ! , nice town, nice walk to next town, the coastline is amazing - it was stormy so very noisy due to wind and sea but also exciting ! great !

As previously stated, majority of pitches reserved for permanent pitches. Access awkward, steep hill, plus toll. Would use as a stopover. No privacy at all, people walking past, looking in. A site for the weekend Spanish. Access could be awkward in bad weather. Open all year. Ok for ferry.

We stayed for 6 nights after checking in for 1 night, pitches are good and the one we were on had a view second to none. staff very friendly , we were a little way from the toilet / showers .
