Being the most expensive campsite we've ever stayed at (even Saint-Tropez was cheaper), we had some high expectations.
Positives:
- Very clean sanitary and self service laundry facilities. The cleanest we've ever seen. Dedicated staff makes cleaning all day long.
- Has a fairly large market where you can buy your daily needs. Prices are not bad.
Negatives:
- First things first, the staff is not welcoming. Employees are so arrogant, most probably because the place is quite full all the time, they don't care if you're happy or not.
- Despite we've made the reservation long time ago for 13 nights, they could not manage to keep us in the same pitch. Had to change in the middle. Picked up everything and re-settled. We were not informed about it in advance.
- The roads in the campsite are made of small gravel and rough soil, which creates a lot of dust. See the photos with heart drawing on dust. This happens only in a couple of hours after you park. You won't want to eat or drink outside your campervan/caravan. All our belongings and camping gear need deep cleaning after our return.
- A very bad smell rises from the water drains at the bathroom and from the water drains on the inner roads (probably one drain at every 20-30 meters). We had to sleep our windows open since the weather was hot, and woke up many times during the night due to the nasty smell.
- A lot of mosquitoes! Had to consume 3 bottles of mosquito spray in 12 days to be able to sit outside. Slept with mosquito repellent all nights.
- They don't segregate the place for tents and motorhomes/caravans/campervans. This is not a problem if you stay in a tent. But why it is a problem for others? Naturally, day starts and ends earlier in tents. During the night, if you sleep your windows open, you hear people walking outside the whole night going to the toilet and coming back. In the mornings since the tent becomes hot quickly, people in tents wake up quite early and you listen to their breakfast preparations. It is not because tent is bad, motorhome is good etc, not at all! Just dynamics are different and should be served in different locations.
- All staff assumes that you can speak German (this region is called "little Germany". As it is promoted in Germany too much, guests are mainly from Germany. We've seen only a couple of Spanish people during our stay. Locals do not prefer at all. Our humble experience says, if locals do not prefer a place (valid for restaurants, bars etc as well), you need to consider carefully).
- 40 mins bike trip to L'Escala, where the sea is much better and where you can find a selection of restaurants, but most of the road does not have a bike segregation. A small portion is bike road, but with gravel and dust. Not suitable for a city bike.
Neutral (depending on preferences):
- The sea is very wavy & windy. If you're keen to do kite surf or wind surf, you may find this very positive. If looking for a nice sea to swim with less waves, this is not your place.
- There's a party (I think they bring a DJ) in some evenings till 24:00. The sound is so high, if you want to stay at your camping pitch, have some family chat or watch something, the sound is quite annoying. If you're a party person, you may like it. Despite we were quite far away from the restaurants, it was too noisy for us.
All in all: does it worth? My answer is "NO". Possible to find much better choices with better price.
