In Bolnuevo, an old fishing village in the sun-drenched region of Murcia in southern Spain, you'll find the camping site Playa de Mazarrón. Thanks to the canvases hung around the camping site, you can spend the entire spring and summer in the shade on your camping pitch. Don't have camping equipment? Why not reserve a wooden cabin or bungalow? You can take a dip in the beautiful swimming pool or enjoy yourself at the nearby beach. If you're hungry, the camping site restaurant is the place to be. Bolnuevo has more restaurants as well as a supermarket.
Camping or renting?
Playa de Mazarrón boasts nearly five hundred touring pitches and several annual pitches. Wooden cabins and bungalows by Gitotel are located at the centre of the camping site. The pitches are tidy and vary in size. Even though the camping site is large, everything is easily accessible: the two large sanitary facilities are centrally located on the property.
Plenty of fun in the water
Relaxing in and around the well-kept swimming pool (250 m2) is a great way to spend the day and Playa de Mazarrón also features a separate toddler pool. Make sure to grab a drink at the bar in order to keep yourself hydrated. A day at the beach is also an excellent idea. Leave the camping site through one of the exits and walk along until you reach the adjacent beach and the sea. Spread out your towel and soak up some sun! Or you can put on your snorkel and go for a refreshing dip.
Get in some exercise and head off to see some entertainment
The north side of the camping site features a playground, tennis courts and other sports facilities (like squash). There are several activity programmes focused on children, teenagers and adults. These are only available during high season and are offered in Spanish.

Excellent location if you want to be by the beach.
The only slight criticism is that although two of the three toilet blocks have been refurbished why not put toilet paper in each WC rather than before you go in, also nice hand dryers but why no soap dispensers? These small things can make the difference between 4 and 5 stars.
Stayed at this campsite in our motorhome for 3 nights. What a lovely place! Situated right next to the beach, the pitches were all well maintained, the showers and toilets were superb, and the flowers and shrubbery were exceptional, the gardener certainly has an artistic flair with some brilliant topiary which was tastefully lit up at night. We were given a site map showing all available pitches upon arrival and invited to pick our own pitch which was great. The site bar was open but the restaurant was closed for the winter. But take a walk outside the front entrance into the village and you have a lovely Chinese restaurant within 30 metres (used once and was brilliant), a spar supermarket within 100 metres, a sports bar run by Brits showing all the football and rugby within 120 metres and a lovely restaurant called Elliot\'s, again run by Brits offering good old British food at decent prices at around 140 metres. Used this restaurant for full English breakfast and 2 x evening meals. If it wasn\'t for the 22 degrees in November, we might have thought we were still at home. There were also traditional Spanish restaurants nearby. The harbour is within walking distance but precious little open during the winter. The Port is too far to walk but drive there on a Sunday for the massive street market. Would definitely use this campsite again, maybe for a whole month next winter. One minus point for the surrounding area. There are lots of public toilet facilities all along the seafront but all locked up for the winter.
We stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed it, we only heard the occasional bark, long termers were friendly enough, our pitch was plenty big enough for us. The disabled facilities were excellent. Washing up was a bit hit and miss on the hot water. Lovely to walk along the front and on another day into the port.
Stayed 4 nights. Excellent site. Not much to see locally except sandstone mushrooms! Nice walk along promenade to local port and town. Two nice beaches. Site opens out on to beach: one side dog beach. Two small supermarkets within 10 mins walk and they sell a reasonably variety of goods. Site shop closed and restaurant. Some great topiary trees on site. Lots of french, Spanish and Belgium couples use site long term. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Would definitely use again
We camped at this site in early June in a tent. The pitches were a reasonable size although no privacy unless you make your own. The site was very clean, the toilets and showers especially and the pool area was excellent. No restaurant open and only the pool bar open during the day. This didn\'t really matter as there are some very nice bars and restaurants just outside the gate. There is also a bus service just outside that will take you to the port. The port is beautiful and well worth a visit. The choice of pitches was very small with most seaming to be taken by permanent and semi permanent residence. All the staff were friendly and helpful especially at the pool bar. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely visit again.
Fantastic site in lovely suroudings just a couple of miles from playa de mazzeron harbour. The beach in 3 meters from rear of the site ...lovely sand and paved promenade to stroll along ..
Overall good site, pool far to small for the size of the site, in May there was standing room only no way to have a swim. Helpful staff and security was visible at entrance.
I am on the site at the moment, feeling bewildered by some of the comments, dogs? Yes there are dogs here and certainly not every van in the area we are, unfriendly long termers again all smile and speak, excellent location. They are trying very hard to make the site pretty, flowers topiary hedges, etc. Facilities spotless. Don't be put of by negative reviews. There are different size pitches we were told to walk around and choose where we stopped, we have motorhome 7 meters long and could fit 2 on here and still have space. This is a big site si I am guessing it depends where you pitch on your experience, we are on 599.
We stay on this site twice a year for 1 month and enjoy it, despite the attitude of some of the long stay people (usually continental). Music is discouraged (by them) due to interference with their tv and wifi, but the location is excellent, the surrounding restaurants and beaches wonderful and definitely a place that we return to. Lots of pleasant walks and Puerto de Mazarron is within walking distance but bikes are recommended. If you can tolerate/ignore the arrogant long-stayers then you will really enjoy this site.
Pitches are rather small and VERY close together, with little opportunity for privacy. The overall feel is that of a "battery-farm" campsite that is overcrowded and impersonal.
There are many long-term residents who seem to regard the site as their personal property and are not shy at shouting abuse at those they perceive as infringing their self-appointed rules.
The very tight corners within the site prove difficult to negotiate with a >7m rig, and the residents of corner plots seem incapable of being altruistic enough to move obstructing vehicles.
Despite this, the pitches include mains drainage for grey water and fresh water at every pitch, as well as 10A electricity.
The staff are very friendly and multilingual, and are the sites' biggest material asset.
Visiting off-season, we felt we had arrived at a sunny old-peoples home; despite being in our mid 50s, we seemed to be the youngest couple on site by a margin of about 15 years.
Would we recommend? Yes, but unenthusiastically. Would we return? Probably not; not because of the site or its facilities, but because of the nature of the off-season clientele.
