A campsite and Stellplatz with shared facilities. The campsite \'comfort pitches\' include individual water, electricity and chemical WC dump, but have no privacy. ACSI Card price seems reasonable until a daily charge is added for taxes. This does include a free bus pass, which we didn’t use as we only stayed one night. (The Stellplatz is a bit cheaper but doesn\'t include the metered electricity). The camp website lists \'free WiFi\' but there was a charge per day per machine: sheer greed given the high cost of staying. Facilities were just adequate. The setting itself is stunning, below Germany\'s highest peak, and that is the only reason to stay. A noisy road (with separate foot or cycle path) leads a couple of miles into the winter sports resort of Garmisch. There is a restaurant nearby and an Aldi store across the road.
Reception were really friendly and helpful. Sites were a good size. Bathroom facilities were pleasant. Site is handy for supermarket.
Brilliant location with superb morning views of the mountains. Fairly large but basic site, ideal for the overnight stay we needed. Booking in after 5 required a trip to the Resort site, but instructions were not clear unless you could read German. Very friendly staff with good English spoken. Close to an Aldi, over a busy road, bus pass very useful extra.
Spent 3 nights there in a tent. Surprisingly good sleep despite the closeness of the main road. Also, almost the only camping during this years´ holiday that had appropriate, functional but non-disturbing night lights (most of the others had too much light in the night). However, the hygiene area looks, feels and smells decidedly un-hygienic (obvious mold on the mortar between tiles on shower cubicle walls, apparently too few toilet cubicles for the amount of people, overflowing rubish bins). This place is great as a base for hiking trips, while spending as little waking time at the campsite as possible.
The closeness to bus stop with free bus pass, and to the shops, is a good thing. However, there is a lot of car and lorry traffic and no safe pedestrian crossing over the very busy road towards the shops, the stop towards Ga-Pa and the pub - maybe the owners should try to persuade the authorities to establish one?
