This stunning UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve is in the border area of the states of Beieren, Hessen and Thüringen, in the centre of Germany. This low mountain range has large, forested areas, vast valley meadows and tree-less mountain peaks. Camping Waldberg has been erected on the sunny side of the Kreuzberg on a site with old trees and two idyllic streams. This quietly located campsite is ideal for nature lovers. Explore the unspoiled nature of the Rhön on foot or on a mountain bike.

Pick your own pitch at this natural campsite

What all the pitches at Camping Waldberg have in common is that they are all level and on grass. Furthermore, all touring pitches are unique and situated in the countryside. There are lovely pitches by the streams, but you can also camp at a shaded pitch on the edge of the forest. Or pick a pitch with views of the Kreuzberg.

Sample local delicacies in the beer garden and restaurant

When you return to the campsite after a day of walking or mountain bike riding, you can enjoy a delicious Privatbrauerei Strecks beer in the Biergarten. Other drinks are available too, of course. The campsite also has a café, a lounge and a restaurant, where the smoked trout is the house speciality. You can order fresh bread daily in the café.

There is also a small shop at the campsite. You can go to Wildflecken and Bischofsheim in der Rhön for more extensive grocery shopping. These towns are about a 15-minute drive from the campsite.

Travelling party: Couple

Zeer rustige camping. Sanitair wat verouderd maar schoon en functioneerde goed. De nieuwe eigenaar zei dat er veel gerenoveerd moest worden, maar aan de activiteiten konden we dat niet merken. Wij zijn niet zo veeleisend dus voor ons was de groene en rustige omgeving het belangrijkste, evenals de ruime standplaats. Het personeel was vriendelijk. Prijs/kwaliteit vonden we uit balans.
