One of the worst sites we have had the misfortune to use in over 30 years of caravanning.
The reception people were friendly and seemed to listen to us but asked us if we wanted a sunny or shady pitch but gave us shade when we wanted sun. When we got to the pitch towing a 420 caravan there was no way to to get it through the ridiculously small entrance way without running tyres over the kerbs. Then we found the pitch had no sun. Next we realised whoever designed this site had no idea what caravanners need or want on or accessible to their pitch. I note their site suggests a 50 metre cable is required for electric hook up. What it fails to mention accurately is where exactly these can be found. From our new pitch, it took some 5 minutes hunting to find a power supply box in the middle of the next door pitch completely obscured by a tent in front of it. The other fields seem to have the same problem. There may be enough power outlets for those who need them and have very long cables, but putting many connections on a box obscured by hedges and tents is just pure laziness ,when the power cables have to run around the site anyway. Why not do what sensible designers do and give each pitch an electric point that can be found without having to stomp through other people\'s pitches.
ACSI state that you don\'t have to cook unless you want to as the campsite has a cafe/restaurant , but it seemed only to be open at lunchtime,if at all, and the shop was closed in the afternoons. As this site is used for people visiting Ghent and surrounds, doesn\'t it seem a little odd to be open when their potential customers are out and about taking in the sites.
The showers were good but the toilets needed proper cleaning and the brush holders were dirty.
2 nights here was more than enough.
Way over priced. Reception good with good if not over the top welcoming pack. Cleaning sanitary facilities was done in the morning had to walk to find another. Bus close by and nice location but would not rush back. Can’t comment on everything as decided to stay only one night due to cost.
Excellent site. Very friendly staff. Nice reception area with welcoming staff and welcome pack. Good facilities. Convenient bus link to the middle of town. Having stayed in five ACSI recommended sites over a week this was best site and best value. Can’t grade for children, sports as didn’t use them or take note!
Having read reviews wondered what to expect. Received a warm, friendly welcome. Asked for a quiet, sunny pitch and got a lovely spot with rabbits visiting us. Toilets and showers clean. Easy cycle route into Gent. Six pitches around us empty, only one neighbour. Can see what reviews mean by the road noise, but we were well away from it so worth asking at check in.
The worst campsite I have ever stayed on. Dirty and unkempt. Electricity connections much too far away. Toiets closed EARLY MORNING for cleaning. WHAT!!!! Staff incompetent. And expensive.
Pleasantly surprised. Professional, helpful staff. Good pitches. All information provided. Toilet blocks are male and female separate but showers are unisex . The only negative is that the toilet blocks are not as clean as they could be.The showers are good but always flood the floors. Would stay again off season.
Limited choice of campsites around Ghent fortunately this campsite is a good one. I was solo camper on a motorbike and the pitch I was allocated was fine if a little lumpy. I was only there for one night so can't comment on all the facilities available however they do have a decently stocked shop, a good bar / restaurant and take away food option. I would happily stay again and spend a little longer.
A great campsite conveniently situated on the bus route to Gent. Sites are well kept and of ample size. Ablution facilities are excellent and well serviced. Motorhome facilities (wc cleaning & water waste disposal) are good. Free wifi throughout the camp is a bonus.
We arrived for one night on the way to Calais. Also Northern Europe had been subjected to non stop rain for 3 weeks. The first pitch allocated our 4 wheel drive had a problem, we then noticed in the next field drier pitches, which were better. The restaurant was lovely, very friendly staff and good food. Lovely fresh rolls in the morning and a good mini supermarket.
An enjoyable if somewhat tired site with impressive leisure facilities. The motorhome site we were allocated had sufficient space to fully extend an awning and there was still space on the other side of the vehicle. It is a short walk to the bus stop where a regular service takes you to the amazing city of Ghent. The on site shop has a wide range of basics.
