Campsite Goolderheide is close to the border with the Netherlands, amidst a forest in the Belgian province of Limburg. You can camp here in peace and quiet among the trees, but thanks to the entertainment team and the many sports and game amenities there is plenty to do. Unique to this campsite is that there are special camping pitches with facilities for horse riders and their horses.
There are camping pitches, but also rental accommodation such as hiking cabins, furnished tents, mobile homes and luxurious chalets. The many pine trees mean there is always plenty of shade.
Plenty of entertainment
There is, for example, a bird of prey and reptile show, where visitors can get acquainted with the beautiful birds, and you also get the chance to touch tarantulas, and stare snakes and other reptiles in the eyes. Football, dart and ‘jeu de boules’ tournaments are organised there and activities such as ‘Fiets ‘em d’erin’ (Cycle it in) at the beach pool, orienteering and ‘The Voice of Goolderheide’. And don’t be alarmed if you are walking over the campsite and all of a sudden you see flames, that will be the cosy campfire you can sit around and enjoy.
Riders and horses
What makes the Goolderheide campsite unique is that horse riders can come to the campsite with their horses. There are spacious stables, an outdoor track and pastures for grazing. There are also facilities to care for horses and straw and water available. From the campsite, there is a horse trekking route covering 24 kilometres that is connected to a trekking and horse riding route of three hundred kilometres. That means endless pleasure along fields and meadows, through woods and heaths. Horse riders can spend the nights in special tents by the pond, bordering the stables.
