We came here at the height of the season and were surprised to find the site so empty - the recent heavy rains had put a lot of people off. The approach is along a small track and across a narrow bridge onto the site (easy), and we enjoyed our stay. We had a pitch right next to the river and the staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. We can here for the walking, and were not disappointed. Poupehan has arranged a series of walks of varying lengths in the surrounding forests, with maps, and the trails are marked. We did a 6km, followed by a 10km, and had great fun - you just have to watch out for the wild boar, but that is the same all over the Ardennes. Great site, very friendly, and would certainly go back.
Very good site. Stayed two nights. Great river location. Owners very nice with good English. We hope to return soon.
In our first trip to Belgium and disappointed of Bredene area we travel to this campsite and stay for the rest of our trip ,fantastic atmosphere ,beautiful surrounds,so meany things to do , the staff and owners are so friendly ,if you want to enjoy nature in Belgium this is the best place to be , only thing I found but is in all campsites they don't have toilet paper ,so bring or buy your own , 90 % of the pitches have the river view and access , just perfect
An excellent site deep in the Ardennes forest. Get a pitch by the river if you can and chill out watching the wildlife. Lots of walks in the area and canoeing on the river.
We stayed here for 3 nights in June in our campervan. We were in an idyllic spot on pitch 101 where the river splits round the island. It is such a peaceful place. We were able to watch ducks, a couple of swans, a heron and a muskrat from our pitch.
There is a small shop in Poupehan and there is a bar on the campsite. The Dutch owners are really friendly and speak good English.
The facilities are good and clean. Only one downside was that we were only allowed one electronic key for the showers, which meant we couldn't shower at the same time. Also there was no toilet roll, but this seems to be the norm in Belgium.
Washing up is outside but under cover.
This is a really well kept site and we loved it here. We definitely hope to return one day.
