Camping Klein Strand is situated near Jabbeke, in the Belgian province of West-Flanders. The campground consists of two parts. There is a small area around the lake with the beach, from which Klein Strand derives its name. They have mostly permanent pitches. There is also a second section, which is located on the other side of the Varsenareweg. This section is also used for short-term camping. These pitches are also close to the beach.
In high season both sites have their own reception. During the remainder of the year only the main reception near the lake is open. You will also find a Chinese restaurant and a shop there. Near the other reception is a toddler pool (Pirate pool) with several slides and climbing equipment customised for toddlers.
Spacious pitches and different types of accommodation
The camping site is well maintained and has spacious and somewhat less spacious pitches. For instance, on Klein Strand there are special pitches for tents, although there is no space for your car. You can park your car in the large parking area near the entrance. On the camping site you can rent holiday chalets for max. 6 persons. You can also rent Chalets Corsaire for 2 persons as well as luxury tents (glamping) for up to 6 persons.
Endless water fun
Fun for all in the large lake: swimming, the water slides or swimming in the secured section. You can even take waterski lessons on the lake and in summer there are waterski shows. In the small lake you can fish for bream, carp and eel.

This site is in a good location for an overnight stop and/or visiting Brugge. The camping pitches are large. But it is a large site and noisy. There is road noise from the motorway and, despite requesting a quiet pitch, we were sited next to teenage campers playing loud music and dogs which barked whenever we went outside. There was also some building work going on. On a 2 month trip it was the most expensive site we stayed on but not the best. We even had to pay extra for showers. However, we would stay here again because of its location but only for a brief stop.
Liked - Convenient for Brugge, the beach and lake and paddling pool were all terrific.
Disliked - We couldn’t gain access to the site until after 8 pm because of a triathalon. When we did then gain access a neighbour had parked on our pitch meaning we had to use a much smaller tent pitch. Music in the bar on the Saturday night was very loud. The common parts of the site have lots of litter.
We stayed in a tent for two nights at Klein Strand. While the campsite probably is quite nice for children with lots of things for them to do, the place gives the impression of only being in it for the money. To shower or do the dishes you pay for every second of warm water. In the showers you can\'t even adjust the temperature and they are not being cleaned often enough. While showering I was standing in dirty water as it didn\'t run down the drain properly.
We didn\'t have our own adapter to use the electricity on our tent pitch and so we rented one from the campsite. They however told us renting and buying was the same price, although when renting you get the deposit back..
Do NOT buy food at the small kiosk on the camp site. As we arrived on a Sunday, no grocery shops were open and we wanted to barbecue. Went to the kiosk and the person working there barely understood English. When he understood we wanted meat for barbecuing he went to the back room and got an open bag of burger patties and took one out without gloves or anything! We immediately said we didn\'t want any and \"ran\" out of the place.. Ended up eating out..
Stayed in caravan 12, it has BED BUGS!!!!!!! Came home covered in bites. My husband and I have been ill due to the severity. My young children also bitten. Had to throw away luggage and some clothing. Stressful unpacking to prevent infestation in my own home.
Manager very rude, firstly saud it was my fault for not checking bed, then called to apologise and offer to cover costs. After sending the bill - no contact!!!!
Arrived today and we are very happy with the pitch and the facilities! Staff have been friendly and helpful. Kids club lovely and well provided for with lots of activities and fancy dress! The lake beach is a lovely place with beautiful soft sand, plenty bins to keep it tidy and lots of helpful staff. Meal in the Chinese restaurant was excellent. Shop could do with being better organised but it has what you need. Just a bit hap hazardly arranged.
Toilets were often filthy and did not appear to be cleaned very frequently
I discovered a dangerous fault with the electrical supply(no earth) I informed the staff and 3 days later they had not even looked at the fault, let alone corrected it.
Plus point is that it is a good location for access to Bruges and nearby coastal resorts
This site is great. Handy location, friendly at reception and some good facilities for both kids and adults. People have complained of road noise but from the camping pitches it’s no problem at all. Loads to do in the area and the coast is well serviced by the tram. We’ll be staying again.
Great site. WiFi friendly all over. Convenient for Bruges.
2 parts to this site, if going in low season you need to book in at the reception on the left side of the road where there is a lake with water sports etc., the staff were friendly, English spoken. Security card (25 euros deposit) for gate access and shower, no charge for shower with ACSI card
Given a choice of pitches, most a good size and hedged. Toilet block was well kept, laundry facilities etc.
There was some road noise but site was good for a short stay and not too far from Bruges which is worth a visit.
This is a big site split into 2 with one only for statics & the other statics & caravans/camper vans. The part where the lake & beach, shop, restaurants etc has a lot of statics which are very VERY run down, some with windows smashed, even some just 'shells'. This lets the site down and could be dangerous for unsupervised kids (and there were a LOT of these). The beach & lake area is actually very nice. On the other site the caravan/tent pitches vary in size. There is also a snack bar and bar here. Useful site for the Zebrugge ferry and the pleasant bus ride into Brugge. TIP - most of the alcohol in the Brugge shops can be bought for a fraction of the price in supermarkets !
