Within walking distance of the town of Thiviers, in a park-like area, you will find the quiet family camping Le Repaire. The camping site is close to a lake with a sandy beach where you can swim. Guests are very impressed with this beautifully located camping site with great facilities. A special feature of this camping site (9 ha in size) is that pilgrims like to spend the night here in a 'pilgrims refuge': it is located on the road from Vézelay to Santiago de Compostella.
At Le Repaire you have a choice between spacious pitches (120-150 m2), on grassland and demarcated with small hedges. Poplars, oaks, cherries and pine trees provide ample shade or somewhat less shade. Several wooden rental homes can be rented as well.
Entertainment for all
The heated swimming pool (150 m2) is partly covered with a sliding roof. There is a separate toddler pool. There is a table tennis table and a jeu-de-boule pitch. Competitions are organised here on a regular basis. You can borrow rackets, balls and shuttles from the reception. A small fee is payable for billiards as well as for the tennis court at the nearby Nantheuil recreational lake. At this lake, complete with sandy beaches and lawns, part of the water has been sectioned off. Therefore, children can safely swim here. There is a lovely playground. The camping site also has its own playground. In the recreation area lovely activities are organised twice weekly in English and French.
Dancing on summer evenings
In summer great activities such as rock concerts, dance evenings, theme evenings and kids parties are regularly organised on the terrace.

Family group with two 4 year olds and Grand Parents and were in VW Campervans. The site was perfect for us with flat pitches and water and loos in close proximity. The shop was a bit small but local to the site are Thiviers and several Supermarkets The entertainment in the evenings was good and the Food in the restaurant was very good. The site provided every thing for us that we wanted but the locale has so much to offer that we did not need the main tourist attractions of the Main Dordogne region that was still within reach if we had wanted to go there. Excellent site that if in the UK would be top rated and not too expensive either.
Potentially a superb site with beautiful surrounding trees and a small lake. Good pitches (only half site was open). 20 min VERY steep walk into town (excellent with good market and shops). Most of extras like pool were shut. Biggest disapointment was facs. There was no chemi waste facility on site, you had to go to road outside to dump. No hose and heavy metal tops with no handles on. This meant (despite signs saying not to) people were emptying down toilet. Facs poorly ( and cheaply) built. Supposed to be all weather but toilets had large gaps and showers had small heater. Water while we were there only got luke warm. Little sign of cleaning. Shame as could be excellent
Has the potential of being a super site. Lovely location in bit of a valley (most pitches slightly sloping). Mature range of trees and small lake. Some road noise as road outside was on a hill. Very comfortable feel. Very steep walk into town !! Half site closed as we were end of Sept. Pool and sauna closed (despite being very hot). Big let down were facilities. Cheap and poorly designed. Despite fairly new were already looking jaded. No handbasins for toilets, hot water luke warm, and despite being an all year site you would get cold in facilities as were semi open air. Big issue was NO chem facs facilities on site at all. Had to use a municipal drain (handle missing and not well fitting) that was actually on the road outside the site. No hosepipe and smelled. People were using toilets to get rid of chem waste despite signs on doors to contrary. Not hygenic in my opinion. Shame as otherwise good site
Potentially an excellent site. Set in beautiful bit of woodland with mature trees, and small lake. Large site but small number of pitches (a few wooden huts set away on steep slopes). Pool and sauna and shop closed (end of hot September). Free wi-fi under cover. 25 min steep uphill climb to town. Site badly let down by only 1 water tap with no hose attachment facility, and more importantly no chem waste (there is one outside site but not nice and no water).
Signs on toilet doors saying do not use loos for chem waste, but people are clearly using them for this purpose. Site seems well kept but facs not cleaned in the 3 days we were there. Reasonably new facs but cheaply done and will soon look tatty. Open feel to facs will mean cold in winter, and while we were there water varied from lukewarm to OK. Shame as potentially lovely site Was 15 eu per night.
