Lovely campsite with an exceptionally helpful owner whose English put my French to shame! Wi-fi I found was only good around the reception and I certainly couldn't get a signal on the pitches. The lovely owner delivery the most beautiful bread right to our pitch every morning.....? Breakfast in bed! Campsite is just a short stroll from the village which has a good selection of shops. Would recommend this site to all.....it has a ' lovely feeling' about it which in my book is a very high recommendation!
A lovely, quiet site. Friendly and helpful proprietors. Toilet and shower facilities were excellent and very clean. The local village is within easy walking distance and supplies pretty well everything you need. There is also an excellent restaurant 5 mins. walk from the campsite. Plenty of space on the pitches. What stood out for us was the helpfulness of the owner. He even helped site our caravan for us. We shall certainly visit again.
We just loved this site. Came for 3 days and stayed 7. We told Veronique (proprietor) we were leaving next day for different times! Facilities are very clean and close by. There is a short steepish hill to walk to them. The walking distance town is very beautiful and will have the products you need. It is a great central location for exploring many wonderful areas in that part of France. The terraced sites are quite private with mixed shade and sun in case you want to dry your laundry. It is such a peaceful/beautiful area. You might even be able to improve your bad French because Veronique is so patient and willing to help. We are from the USA and gladly skipped Paris to be here. ACSI has 4 stars but we five star La Bastide. This is an area where you need to have a vehicle.
This is a wonderful place to stay. We came for 3 days in September 2011 and told Veronique each day we were leaving but stayed 7 days! The sites are nicely terraced, relatively private and the facilities are immaculate. Veronique was even patient with our less than good French and had many questions about the USA and San Francisco where we live. We found it to be a great base to explore a wide area of beauty and interests. I would give it 5 stars but everyone has an opinion. There is a short hill to walk to the facilities which may not suit everyone. Located a short walking distance to a small beautiful village.
We came to stay 2 days and a week flew by! La Bastide is a great place for the area which has too much to see and ever so beautiful. The campground is not to party in but has all the amenities you need. The beautiful town of Villefranche-du-Perigord is within walking distance. Quiet with very private sites...very clean and well maintained. Veronique (owner) was wonderful. Patient with N. American, will even try to improve your French. I would 4 star La Bastide but everyone's opinion is different. Our stay was Sept. 14 - 20 2011, but I would not expect any difference from July through August. We explored as far as St. Emillion (must see) and every little road around the area.
Just returned from five weeks touring France, this site had the most friendly welcome of all.
Facilities were absolutely spotless and the terraced pitches fantastic.
Swimming pool again fantastic and has been said before the local town only a very short stroll away really lovely.
Thought twice about leaving this review as it is one of these wonderful sites that you consider keeping to yourself.
