You will find Camping Le Tedey in the heart of the famous coastal resort of Lacanau, France's ultimate surfing spot. Le Tedey is the ideal place for a relaxed camping holiday among the trees and by the water. This child friendly campsite is on the banks of Lake Lacanau, only a stone's throw from the Atlantic Ocean. The many water sports options mean the campsite is extremely popular among families with teenagers.

Vast choice of pitches & accommodation

The site at Le Tedey is in a large pine forest and offers plenty of choice of the various camping pitches and luxury holiday homes, such as mobile homes, tiny houses and lodge tents. The special thing here is that you can choose a premium pitch. That is a pitch with a hut that looks like a little garden house containing a small kitchen with tableware and a fridge. You also get comfortable garden furniture at this pitch. Ideal for campers with a tent!

Water sports adventures

There may not be a swimming pool at this campsite, but camping Le Tedey's location right by the lake and close to the sea is perfect for doing many water-based activities. Stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, sailing and surfing in particular are popular here. At the campsite there are two gently sloping beaches with a sailing and surfing school that also rents out pedal boats and sailing boats. If you feel like swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, the beach at Lacanau Plagebeac is only 7 kilometres away. You can cycle there in about 30 minutes via a lovely route through a forest.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - The lake and pitches are fantastic, as always. However, since switching from Le Tedey to Slow Village, there have been many disappointing changes. And ironically, it’s lost that relaxed, laid back feeling. Everything is so impersonal now and feels like you are being utilised to make the company money at every opportunity. It was, however, lovely to see the ladies in the shop were still there and the pastries exactly the same-absolutely delicious! For newcomers, the location is breathtaking, but Le Tedey regulars will be disappointed-as confirmed in discussions with other guests.
Disliked - The sanitary blocks were not cleaned thoroughly or regularly enough. The bar and restaurant are now massively over priced. The staff were rude. Services aren’t as easy to book (the boat man has gone!). We felt like the aim of Slow Village was not to provide us with a fantastic holiday, but simply to make as much money as possible out of us. Disappointing.

Liked - The site is in a stunning location. The cafe and beach area are lovely and mean you can relax for a day without having to leave the site. Reception were quick to help when needed. The grocery store is well stocked and the food vans were good if you don’t want to cook for an evening.
Disliked - The wash blocks would actually put me off returning. There are no toilet seats or toilet paper but more importantly, there is no soap provided. Surely since Covid, providing basic products for hygiene is important. The two other campsites we visited on this trip managed it. The blocks could do with cleaning more regularly as they are used by a lot of people.

The staff were helpful but not very friendly.

Liked - Location is stunning, the lake is great for kids. We had a lot of fun. The forest is magical and offers welcome shade.
Disliked - Staff are rude, bar staff unhelpful. Noisy at night despite 11.30pm curfew.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Meeting old friends from around Europe again
Disliked - We have been holidaying at Le Tedey for 9yrs. And this Yr is the first time we've had anything stolen. Someone stole our hammock and table lamps. It is also the first time I've seen the bathroom and toilet facilities not kept clean.

The new bar setting and staff were not very friendly. Which is a shame as the bar staff in the past have always made children feel welcome.

The camp now has a lot of day visitors, with particular security to over see what day visitors are on site and what times they leave

Travelling party: Family with children, 12 - 18 years

Liked - We have been going to Le Tedey for 6 years now, but were disappointed with a few things this time. On arriving at our pitch, the people next door had taken some of our space. If there was appropriate checking of pitches, this would have been sorted before we got there, as the people had been there for a while. Our friends had a battery charger and 2 bikes stolen from their campsite, and another friend had a hammock stolen. In all the years we've been camping, over 20 years, we have never had to lock away our things and have felt secure in many campsites, this was the first time I felt...
Disliked - ...worried about our possessions. There used to be security roaming the campsites throughout the night, if people were making noise after 11/12, he would tell them directly to stop and people would. This meant it was lovely and quiet at night. I had to tell my neighbours to stop shouting at 1 in the morning. The reception said there is a number you can call if there is a noise problem, but this doesn't work as we are in a tent, and it will wake everyone up who might be sleeping, it comes down to us having to say something, which can be awkward.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Lovely setting, and very central to get out on your bike into Lacanau.
Really well stocked shop and nice pizza burger van and shop on site.

Disliked - The beaches were full of glass, and could be racked regularly if the pine needles.
Also too many cars driving around too fast and was very noisy at night.
The rules say shush at 11pm but that wasn’t enforced like it is in other campsites in the area..

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - I have just send an email to cielavillage with feedback about the lack of cleaning of the lakeside shower facility, which resulted in dirty toilets, showers, washing up facilities. Our lakeside pitch was amazing and the reason we stayed, but the lack of cleaning (twice in 10 days) brings our rating right down
Disliked - As above
