Toilets were cleaned daily, but sometimes paper dispensers were not filled. Men’s urinals were sometimes smelly. The shop on site is well-run and well-stocked and there is a nice bakery. The pizzeria is good but restaurant prices and drinks are expensive. The reception staff are lovely and are always helpful. The arrangements for garbage disposal are very annoying, as there is only the one (very large) place, situated at the campsite entrance. The camping pitches are situated as far away from it as is possible, resulting in a very long walk to dispose of your garbage! The new spa looks wonderful, the grounds are beautifully laid out.
2 of 5 stars
(facilities themselves 5 star but...) The FKK movement was originally a place where youthful (in body/mind or both), healthy and strong people wanted to "get back to nature" and a more natural way of being. Facilities like Arnechaout (and the majority of the clientele they attract) do little to preserve this spirit in more than name.
The facilities themselves are top notch for a camping facility - clean - and the natural setting and camping pitches are beautiful,
ARNE is - at least in "off" season (we visited in June) more like a privileged, gated retirement community where middle/upper-middle class europeans gather in their pricey caravans, slick new cars and electric bikes (waaay to much healthy exercise to ride a real bike, yes?) to celebrate their lifetime achievements by lounging like so many beached whales, nakedly (often with more than a little indignation) promenading partially or fully nude even in the most chilled weather in clear reaction to their lifetime of chosen sociatal oppression (via heirchical corporate jobs or social/religious pressures).
FYI - i would guesstimate the average age here to be in the 60's (having seen in one week in June a small handful younger), the average wealth upper-middle class, and the average weight somewhere in the range of 150%+ of the healthy body mass (think of the humans in Wall-E movie on the spaceship...naked...). If i have just outlined your personal demographic - you will love it here. (young, healthy and happy naked families in the adverts notwithstanding...)
If you expect any of the range of facilities or services to be available during your stay - better come only during the 2 month high season as the rest of the year such services are severly limited - down to having the kids water slide open only on weekENDS and even paid-for services like sauna only open on weekDAYS (??)) - in other words - ARNE takes full advantage of advertizing it's wide and very nice range of services and facilities but does little to make it clear on their promotional webpage and in full-color brochures that many of these facilities are only really available during the short july/august high season.
I write this review as a 62 year old well-travelled male of healthy height/weight ration who has not spent his life conformed to the social groove just to make lots of money. I personally believe in choice and options - i think one should be able to be clothed or unclothed as they wish and need and then choose to do so based on personal comfort. I write because i wish someone had written this review for me to consider the nature and energy of the ARNE facility attendees and who ARNE is marketing to obviously for the highest profits.
Beautiful as it is, it was not a total pleasure as most other reviewers would indicate - i would have liked a more candid review about the clientele and actual availability of services... but then, as i know now, those who come here are "where the money is" for ARNE to market to. C'est la vie.
Nice site but more hilly than expected which was a bit of a problem due to limited mobility, as was distance to the beach. Tight access to some pitches. Good sanitary facilities.Fantastic staff. Lovely pool.
We stayed for 4 nights and it was lovely. You have plenty of privacy, if you want. Sanitaries are well designed and the pools are fantastic. Wellness facilities too, and very affordable. We are looking forward to go back!
