The friendly family camping site L’Arada Parc is situated on a low hill near the town of Sonzay in the Loire Valley. The grounds with many flowery shrubs look well maintained.
On the slightly hilly terrain the camping pitches are closer to the amenities than the rental accommodation units. The terrain is laid out with numerous trees and bushes and has a varied appearance. The pitches differ in size and comfort but are all spacious. The luxury pitches have electricity and water supply plus drainage. A number of pitches is dedicated to campers. Rental accommodation consists of furnished tents, mobile homes and chalets.
Wellness in old mobile home
The owner has converted an old mobile home into a relaxation and wellness area with a Turkish bath, balnéo, an infrared sauna and some fitness equipment including two bicycles. There is a heated indoor pool, with toddler pool, and outdoor pool with nice slide and jacuzzi.
Camping site owner and chef
The owner is also the chef and the restaurant offers a small menu with pizzas, meat dishes and the Arada menu. The terrace of the restaurant, with a view of the swimming pool, is a lovely place to relax in the sun or the shade. You can buy various groceries and beverages in the reception area. There is adequate choice for a reasonable price.
Not to be missed
From the camping site you can take a large number of walking and cycling trips in the area and you can rent bicycles from the reception. Wine tasting options are also offered on the various vineyards. You can also visit one of the many castles on the Loire or the regional nature park with wildlife.

We have visited this site twice now and it remains one of our favourites. The grounds are well kept and pitches are a good size with hedges for privacy. Shower blocks are clean and water is always hot. The pool is spotlessly clean with slides for kids. There is also an indoor pool. The area is beautiful. If you ask the receptionist she will supply you with walks around the area. There is a small shop in the village for general day to day items. Easy to get to Tours. Thoroughly recommend this gem of a site.
Stayed here for two nights in September but would not use this site again out of season as most of the chalets were rented out to Polish workers which completely changes the atmosphere of the site. Pity, because the staff are lovely, it has a small but very pleasant indoor pool, hot water in the showers, provides a very nice evening meal and although we had no choice of pitch, we were given a small hardstanding for our motor home which after very heavy rain in the area was most welcome.
Campsite easy to find, pitch OK, unusual tap-fittings but purchased adapter from reception. The first few hours of our stay were very pleasant, until there was a stream of eastern European migratory workers who were staying in the statics. Upon their return, instead of utilizing the facilities in their statics, they virtually took over the sanitary block for the next couple of hours - leaving it in a dirty, muddy mess. However, they were out all day. But this is not what we expect to find on a campsite advertised for holidays.
The area was good in that the roads were quiet, there was a supermarket a short drive away, and plenty of Châteaux to visit along that part of the Loire.
The pool was closed when we visited, we did not eat here, and having no children are unable to comment on facilities for them.
Generally speaking the site looked \'tired\' and in need of a thorough clean. We are unable to recommend this site, and would not stay here again.
Only stopped for one night on our way home. Friendly welcome and clean facilities. However we found the pitch very small and it would have felt cramped had we wanted to stay for some time.
We visited in 2012 for the first time and again in October 2013. The site is located in a peacefully quiet area north of Tours. Some pitches are fully serviced which is good for plumbing in a water supply and drainage of waste water. The owners are friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is available over the site. Toilet block is comfortable and kept very clean. The restaurant serves good value, nicely cooked food and breakfast is available if required. There are a number of eastern European workers occupying the cabins who can be a bit noisy at times but they are out from 7.30 to 17.30 and as it is October they are indoors by 19.30.
The surrounding area is very attractive and there are plenty of places to visit, not least the Loire Chateaux.
We like this site very much and recommend it very highly
A pleasant terraced campsite on the edge of a village. Reasonably sized, mostly level pitches. Unisex toilet and shower facilities of a good standard, but the floor was always wet. There are a number of chalets which, on our visit, were occupied by foreign workers; they were not a problem. The restaurant serves wholesome fare at reasonable prices.
Our second visit, and the site has undergone some improvements and is better for it. Staff as welcoming as ever, pitches were a good size with water etc. the pool and exercise area were very nice and well used in the hot weather. Toilet facilities has had a facelift and is very practical and clean. Tours is a few miles away and being in the Loire there's plenty to see.
Spacious pitches clearly marked out. Excellent swimming pool with very comfortable poolside furniture & lots of good quality umbrellas. Small on site restaurant was very good quality & value. Friendly & helpful owners. Bus to Tours available nearby but infrequent. The site needs to improve its chemical toilet disposal.
We arrived in May and really loved it staying 9 days... although we intended staying a further week this went wrong the 8th May. Up to this date rules were observed by everyone. 8th May French holiday. Noise until 1.30am, children running riot through all the pictches. Dogs off the leads, dog mess. People divebombing in the pools and throwing balls at swimmers. We went and complained but nothing was done so we paid up and left. An excellent site ruined by the owners ability not to control bad behaviour. A sad ending to a previous good stay which left a bad taste.
After reading the previous reviews this site promised a lot. The pitch was large enough and fully serviced, the staff were also helpful and friendly. The disappointment was with the toilet facilities, toilets were often found in a dirty condition and wash hand basins grubby. This I believe is not the cleaner's fault, rather the seasonal workers who were renting a mobile home. These people seemed unable to carry out basic cleaning after using the facilities. Antisocial behaviour was the next disappointment with late night parties till 2.00 am on two occasions, banging car doors and sounding car horns after 22.30. Cars visiting the mobile homes arrived after the gate was supposed to be closed (21.00 during this period). The site is probably totally different during the higher season, but based on our experience in low season we will not be returning.
