The tranquil, green Le Rochat Belle-Isle campsite is situated in a park-like environment on the banks of the Indre river, which is excellent for fishing. Nearby, in Châteauroux, there are various facilities, so you will not miss them on the campsite. At the reception you are welcomed with a smile and you will be given information about the spacious and flat, well-demarcated camping pitches (80-130 m2) between the trees. Static caravans are also for rent.
The campsite (some 6 acres) is often used as a stopover campsite because of its favourable location along a traffic corridor to the south. The attractive feature of the campsite is the location at the river's edge and its proximity to a lovely recreational lake. Visitors appreciate the campsite for its beautiful location, walking distance to the recreational lake, swimming pool and running track.
The nearby recreational Lac Belle-Isle has a large play area, beach showers and play ground equipment. The lake has a demarcated area where children can swim safely. From the restaurant at the water's edge, where the natives also like to eat, you have a splendid view. Guests also enjoy the dance evenings and performances that are organised here on a regular basis.
Opposite the campsite is a large, indoor swimming pool where campsite guests can swim free of charge. The heated indoor pool (750 m2) has water slides and waves occasionally. There is also a toddler pool. The campsite itself offers a lot of amusement for children in the new playground, on the bouncy castle and on the trampoline. Naturally - as on any French campsite – there is also a table tennis table, a sports field and a jeux de boules pitch.

Situated next to a lovely park with a lake, great for walks with the dog. The site had 1 mixed toilet block open which had 3 showers and 3 toilets. The site wasn’t extremely busy but there was enough people to warrant more than 3 showers - other toilet facilities had been closed down for the winter I presume. The worst thing was there was no chemical toilet emptying facility, apparently this used to be on the Aire which is outside the campsite but this was closed due to work being done on it. Surely this is not acceptable? The pitches could do with some maintenance i.e. grass cutting and better markings for each pitch. In a great location but needs some work.
We arrived on the weekend of the annual C&W festival so stayed for 3 days - had tried to visit 2 years ago at the same time and could not access the campsite. Better luck this time and had a great visit. Of course many facilities were running down after the French holidays but we were made welcome and the restaurant nearby is impressive. Staff were excellent and linked us into the connections to Flanders Jocks and many websites re the Scottish connections with Chateauroux
Dirty toilet and showers floor, locks broken.Water unable to regulate hot/cold.Chemical toilet outside,no water to flush it,dirty smelly. Stray dogs on site.Reception hours erratic.Site neglected. WiFi very good however.

Visited March 17 drawn by good reviews. Arrived to find gate open, no sign of staff, site partially flooded. Returned later to find same. Parked overnight on adjacent aire. Very good park next door and pleasant town.
Hallo, we hopen je te zien in een toekomstige verblijf met minder water op de camping Helaas, de natuur is grillig en camping wordt omringd door de rivier.
Very disappointed, the staff very pleasant and helpful. Due to winter shared washing facilities. Only hot water was in disabled toilet. All water points on site drained for winter. No toilet paper, a part roll for those camping. Water had to be obtained from laundry room. Location is right beside the river and sports facilities next door. People living in the chalets on site. WIFI was effectively non existent. It\\\'s possibly a very nice summer site but not worth staying in the winter.
Hallo, dank u om op te merken dat het personeel is aangenaam, de winter moeten we de waterleiding te isoleren zo dicht bij sommige faciliteiten niet buigen aanwezig.
wifi werkt meestal goed.
We hopen je te zien in een toekomstig verblijf op chateauroux

Stayed 2 nights as a stopover. Some of the pitches were very wet (France suffered a wet early Spring), and motor homes were having problems leaving pitches. We sited our caravan sensibly, although it meant being close to others on a very empty site. Lovely walk round lake and through park to the delightful old centre of Chateauroux.
We used this site as a one night stopover, however, we would have been happy to spend a few days here. The receptionist was helpful in check in. There were plenty of pitches to choose from with plenty of shade. Toilet/shower facilities were shared but that is no problem for us. We walked over to the park & bar/restaurant there & had a lovely evening taking in the sunset over a carafe of wine followed by a nice reasonably priced meal. All in all a good stopover especially if you don\'t want to cook!
We stayed at this site as it was convenient for a family wedding in a nearby village. In all we were there for 6 nights. Very much a transient site with most visitors staying just one or two nights. The reception advertises English spoken but we did not experience that - not a problem as we always try to speak in French and generally can get by. Close to the historic and beautiful city of Chateauroux and adjacent to an attractive park with a large lake. It sounds an idyllic location but the park - quite rightly - is extensively used and as a consequence the campsite during our stay was noisy by day and night. We experienced 2 days of celebrations for Bastille Day and a weekend international triathlon which necessitated the campsite entrance being closed throughout most of the Saturday and Sunday. There is also a fairly busy airport nearby used for both civil and military aircraft. The toilets, showers and washing up areas were cleaned once daily in the morning. Pitches beyond the first 5 - 6 rows gave a very neglected feel, as did a small children\'s play area. However, close to the reception, there is a very pleasant and nicely furnished tv and free wi fi room. The local gendarmerie made two daily visits around the campsite, probably as part of there security checks on the adjacent park.
What a great site. The manager greeted everyone with a handshake on arrival, expalined everything about the site and the environs. Super heated shower block, fabulous showers and all in all a secure feeling site right in the heart of a bustling town/city; 10 out of 10.
