The tranquil, green Le Rochat Belle-Isle campsite is situated in a park-like environment on the banks of the Indre river, which is excellent for fishing. Nearby, in Châteauroux, there are various facilities, so you will not miss them on the campsite. At the reception you are welcomed with a smile and you will be given information about the spacious and flat, well-demarcated camping pitches (80-130 m2) between the trees. Static caravans are also for rent.
The campsite (some 6 acres) is often used as a stopover campsite because of its favourable location along a traffic corridor to the south. The attractive feature of the campsite is the location at the river's edge and its proximity to a lovely recreational lake. Visitors appreciate the campsite for its beautiful location, walking distance to the recreational lake, swimming pool and running track.
The nearby recreational Lac Belle-Isle has a large play area, beach showers and play ground equipment. The lake has a demarcated area where children can swim safely. From the restaurant at the water's edge, where the natives also like to eat, you have a splendid view. Guests also enjoy the dance evenings and performances that are organised here on a regular basis.
Opposite the campsite is a large, indoor swimming pool where campsite guests can swim free of charge. The heated indoor pool (750 m2) has water slides and waves occasionally. This wave pool is about a two minute walk from the campsite. Those who stay at the campsite for more than a week can, are eligible for a discount. There is also a toddler pool. The campsite itself offers a lot of amusement for children in the new playground, on the bouncy castle and on the trampoline. Naturally - as on any French campsite – there is also a table tennis table, a sports field and a jeux de boules pitch.

We are staying here for just 2 nights as a convenient stop-over on the way home to the UK. (We have used the site previously in 2015.) Very happy with the experience. A very friendly welcome at reception. Understandably, being January - cold and very few touring visitors - many facilities are closed down However the uni-sex sanitary facilities are perfectly adequate and wonderfully warm! The washing up room/ laundry room offers very hot water. WiFi is free and the signal is good. Our pitch offers a hard-standing concrete block which accommodates our 7.2 metre motorhome provides a good level base. Will happily come again.
Liked - Lovely setting and convenient to nearby lakeside restaurant.
Liked - Pitches are lovely, great location, lake next door, trampoline onsite, we lovely going to the free DARC concerts that happen in the town, lovely bakery nearby, WiFi room, staff are really really friendly, and it is brilliant value for money!
Disliked - No, we love it.
Liked - Pleasant flat site easily accessible to and from town and motorway. Great stop off point on way from Southern France to almost anywhere.
If you are visiting this campsite with the silly idea you would like a night\'s sleep then dont. There is a local disco with an incredibly good sound system which does not cease its nocturnal function
Liked - Helpful stay good restaurant nearby
Disliked - Nothing
Liked - Access to walks and town through park
Disliked - No
Situated next to a lovely park with a lake, great for walks with the dog. The site had 1 mixed toilet block open which had 3 showers and 3 toilets. The site wasn’t extremely busy but there was enough people to warrant more than 3 showers - other toilet facilities had been closed down for the winter I presume. The worst thing was there was no chemical toilet emptying facility, apparently this used to be on the Aire which is outside the campsite but this was closed due to work being done on it. Surely this is not acceptable? The pitches could do with some maintenance i.e. grass cutting and better markings for each pitch. In a great location but needs some work.
Liked - great place for overnight stop
Disliked - advance booking fee was more than the price of the pitch
We arrived on the weekend of the annual C&W festival so stayed for 3 days - had tried to visit 2 years ago at the same time and could not access the campsite. Better luck this time and had a great visit. Of course many facilities were running down after the French holidays but we were made welcome and the restaurant nearby is impressive. Staff were excellent and linked us into the connections to Flanders Jocks and many websites re the Scottish connections with Chateauroux
