A very good site with very helpful multilingual staff. Communal facilities very good. Indoor pool looked good but we didn\'t use it as it was full of children (half term). The only problem was that there wasn\'t enough hot water in the showers and the site was far from full.
Location is excellent. On the edge of the village which has a small supermarket and all the shops, etc you would expect. We cycled on a well surfaced cycle path through the forest to Chambord Chateau. We also had an excellent if not cheap meal at a restaurant about 300m from the site heading out of the village (book!).
Friendly young ladies on reception, which is a modern complex including bar, cafe, games/play area and tourist office. Free WIFI in this area. Pool with removable canopy.
Reasonably sized pitches, many with shade, some double sized, may have cost extra.
Facilities modern and clean.
Several well mapped, but not all well signed, cycle routes from the camp. Surfaces variable from loose gravel to tarmac. Chambord chateau stunning and well worth pedalling to see while the velo route along the Loire to Blois is a joy – park at St Dye.
We enjoyed our stay very much while passing through France towards the sea. Campsite is very calm, pitches are spacious and the surrounding is beautiful. Campsite is surrounded by trees which offers a nice bit of shadow on days that can become very hot in this part of France. Staff was helpful and little shop is rather small but you have very good bakery in town close to the camping. If you are a bit fit you can reach plenty of the castles by bicycle which you can rent at the camping. All in all we can really recommend you to stay over for a couple of nights.
We agree with other positive comments here - a pleasant, well-run site, part of the Indigo/Huttopia group which markets itself as ‘back to basics’ camping & consequently there are few ‘amusements’, but there is a separate swimming pool just next door. Pitches are set amongst pine trees; some larger places are not available at the Acsi rate, but that still leaves plenty of choice. Sanitary facilities (four separate uni-sex blocks but only one open Sept ‘14) are modern & clean; but the few water points around the site are hard to find. Staff are friendly & helpful & speak good English. Free (fast) wi-fi at bar/reception. Cycle trails lead off into the surrounding parkland & link with the ‘Loire a Velo’ routes - both Chambord & Cheverny are within an hours ride, with local shops in Bracieux c.10mins walk. We would happily stay here again.
I came here `on the rebound\' from Cheverny, which I liked when I stayed there two years ago but which was full when I got there this year. It proved to be a very adequate substitute: plenty of space, good quality sanitary blocks and very pleasant surroundings. The camp restaurant is rather basic, but there are better restaurants in the village within easy walking distance.
Stayed here for 4 nights off peak. Site is nice with brand new shower and toilet blocks which were spotless. Pool was closed due to the time of year. The staff were friendly and you could buy pasteries for breakfast. The site was great for cycling and visiting the Chateaus. Would stay again.
