A very large site next to the Loire. Unfortunately the weather was very bad whilst we were here. It has shared facilities and no toilet paper, no soap, no towels or hand dryer.
Large site, but few toilet blocks.right on the river, no restaurants on site but 100m is a converted grain mill/store from the war that is a restaurant/bar. Weird thing was they only had limited tables outside on Friday, no bar but food was good if expensive for out of the way place. Campsite staff were very helpful, girl at the desk has good humour..telling me they were full..when I could count the vans on one hand..We parked all the way at end and had 18 spaces to ourselves
Called to check in and reception was closed until 3.30pm. What a welcome. Walked on to look at pitches and facilities.Smelly toilets with many locked even though the site was quite busy. Lots of grotty derelict looking buildings. We turned round and found a much nicer site on the west side of Blois.
We visited this site in August 2014.
It is in a lovely location with a footpath running alongside the River Loire.
It is a VERY large site by area. with hedges and trees dividing it up into the equivalent of several sites. In addition there is a site either side that is shut off giving room for even more expansion.
There are no marked pitches allowing most people a large pitch although for some reason occaisionally people chose to pitch closely.
In the very offseason with few units it would feel very isolated and I would not particularly like to camp there.
Electric and water points are dotted around the ground giving plenty of choice.
There are two toilet blocks The one near the office is very very poor while the unisex one of the furthest end of the site is quite new and is fine. Water for the showers was hot in morning and early evening but cool at other times.
If the site was full the toilet block would struggle to cope.
The site is poorly maintained with very long grass and no evidence of it being cut. There appears only to be one person working there to cover the office/reception, clean the toilets etc. The main man was very laid back and helpful.
Next door is a swimming pool which is free entry for campers. There is a restaurant which was ok without being great and there is a canoe base where canoes can be hired for a paddle on the river.
Other than that the nearest food and shops are a 10 minute drive away.
AS a base its fine with Blois about 10 minutes along the main road and chateas within easy reach.
Even with the camping card I thought it was dear compared to other sites nearby and despite its great location I doubt that I will be returning.
