Nature plays a leading role in the French region of Hérault, north-west of the city of Béziers. Les Cerisiers du Jaur campsite, a green paradise in the Jaur valley, is situated in the heart of the Haut-Languedoc nature regional park. Dotted in the enchanting environment are a number of characteristic French villages to enhance a visit to this region. This diverse region of the Languedoc-Rousillon is also well suited to be explored by bicycle or on foot.
The camping pitches are distributed between the old and the new sections of the campsite. The majority is bordered by green hedges and equipped with electricity and water connections. Sufficient choice for a place in the shade. The old section of the campsite in particular is surrounded by trees, plants and shrubs. Rental accommodation is available in various types and sizes, from modern furnished mobile homes to wooden bungalows with partially covered verandas.
Swimming pool, river, lake or sea
For the swimming enthusiasts, Les Cerisiers du Jaur Campsite is definitely the place to be. On the campsite but also beyond, campers have a choice of various waters. In the centre of the camping grounds is a playful swimming pool, which can be accessed via a wide flight of stairs. Infants and toddlers have their own dedicated section of the pool. The river with private beach is also popular with the guests. The area at the dam is an ideal playground for children. Beyond the campsite are two beautiful lakes: Lake Vesoles and Lake la Raviège. Furthermore, the coast is some 50 km away near Béziers.

Liked - great location, calm - relaxed environment - very friendly people
I agree with previous comments that this is a very pleasant and well situated site. Some pitches are generous though offer limited shade but there are smaller ones that are well shaded. However, one additional feature is the location of individual bathroom/washing up cabins next to a number of pitches at an additional rate that's reasonable. These weren't pointed out to us when we arrived so make sure you ask to see them. The main washroom facilities are adequate but need some improvement.. Staff very friendly and fluent in English. Yes the chemical toilet disposal facility is odd. Great area for cycling and walking
Liked - Private facilities
Liked - Les paysages sont magnifiques et les gens très accueillants.
Disliked - La piscine manque un peu d'ombre et un compost serait parfait en plus du tri sélectif.
Liked - Private sanitary fantastic, very good hot shower and very new and clean. River very clear.
Disliked - Seems to be in the stages of improvement? Road noise and noise from quarry opposite could be made much better by a bank of trees by the road. Pitches by the river would be lovely. The owner/ manager couple sometimes seemed irritated and short of time for guests.
Possibly the very best site we have ever enjoyed in France. It is stunningly beautiful. The pitches are generous and divided with hedges about two metres high offering plenty of privacy. There is an abundance of lovely trees, mainly old cherry trees. Walks along the old railway line opposite are a delight. The staff are very polite, warm and helpful. They were generous in speaking French slowly for my benefit though they speak English for those who struggle with French. There is one negative point about this site which is that it has the most unusual WC chemical disposal point I have ever seen. At first it seemed impossible to use. After a few days another caravanned showed me that you can remove the drain cover making emptying easier. Other people staying there were wondering why ACSI had passed the WC disposal as being acceptable.
A lovely campsite. A short walk from the campsite gates (less than 100 m) takes you into la voie verte ( a decommissioned railway line): good for walking or cycling. Hang a left on the voie verte and it's a short walk into St Pons, which has most of the shops you'll need: butchers, bakers, small supermarkets, cafes. Turn right on the voie verte and it's a slightly longer walk to Riol where you'll find a boulangerie that has wood fired bread ovens. The smell of freshly baked bread and wood smoke is divine. We plan to stay here for a while in 2016.
We found this campsite quite by accident. Couldn't have been luckier. The staff are great, very accommodating and helpful. The site is quiet and pitches are spacious and private. Local supermarket just a few minutes drive down the road. I do agree with an earlier comment that the chemical waste is very basic. This didn't distract from our enjoyment and a definite place to return to.
An excellent campsite within walking distance of the town along the green verte (actually the old railway track and you can walk or cycle miles along it). Town interesting but suffers with dog poo. Site has very friendly staff, hot showers and washing up water, all very clean including the pool where you could swim and enjoy the hills all around. This site must have the best camping guide ever not just showing the pitches but many places of interest in the area.
