A great location next to the canal du midi, so good for walking and cycling. Villeneuve les beziers is a lovely town. The campsite has marked pitches some on gravel with little shade and some on grass/ground with lots of shade. When we were there, there had been a lot of rain so some pitches closed to dry out. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We arrived at his campsite after rain the night before. On entering the site it all looked a bit unkept but we have travelled Europe for many years so have stayed on many sites good and bad so was not concerned. We were told there was 3 pitches that were the best after the rain so drove in and found on (all of them just mud) unhitched the caravan on the best one. I decided to have a look around the site, not good it seem to be mostly itinerants, the whole place is run down and the facilities were shared (male and female) which was ok but the doors were left wide to the elements and much to be desired. We hitched up and left - In 13 years of touring for months in Europe this is only the second time we have done this.
friendly helpful staff. quiet clean surroundings, location excellent for cycling to town, shops, beach and of course along the canal du midi. hard based pitch
This mature and wooded site is located on the banks of the Canal du Midi, near Villeneuve de Beziers, a small town with market and local shops. It is great base for cycling along the canal to Beziers itself or to the coast.
Although the caravan pitches in the old part of the site are large enough and well shaded etc., the area for camper vans is located in a new(ish) extension of the site itself and does not quite have the ambiance of the rest of the site, being rather open and unshaded. These pitches tend to be very small and close together with a consequent loss of privacy. At times it felt a little like being in an 'aire' but without a commensurate reduction in the tariff!
Having said that we enjoyed our stay, met some interesting people and apart from the above reservations about the pitches would recommend it.
A well located and friendly site. The facilities and general conditions of the site are very 'tired' however. The owners are making an effort but there is still a long way to go. We had several water interruptions and suffered low electrical voltage conditions on most days. There were no water disposal facilities or taps near the pitches. Sap/resin dropped from the trees onto the car and caravan. Site roads were in poor condition.
May 3 Only one sanitary block at swimming pool. 2 Toilets, 2 showers, 1 washbasin plus disabled toilet/shower. 1 dish washing basin. No swimming pools both still undergoing maintenance. Very busy site. No water or waste water facilities. Chemical disposal closed. Did not accept Club ID needed passport. This site could not have been inspected. Very disappointed.
Stayed on this site for the last 2 years when the new owners took over. The owners has made significant improvements and in May the campsite was full. There were lots of English on the site and all said how much they liked the site and its location. The owner has also said he wishes to make further improvements over the next few years.
Superb position next to the Canal du Midi and within easy distance of a great little town, with good shops and restuarants and a small market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Wifi excellent value with strong signal. Toilets basic but clean and showers are good. We spent three days longer than expected, because of the wealth of interesting things around. Owners very obliging and capable.
We stayed here on a cycling tour of France. From the first it felt that the owners were mostly interested in making money, not providing a good environment. We were charged the same as campervan but had a small tent and were on cycles. We were given a small pitch - not really a pitch but cramped near the pool. There was no electricity at the pitch although we were told there would be. The internet was charged for, and didn't work at our pitch - not good value. The owner was apparently friendly, but felt insincere. The pool was closed, despite it being hot and sunny and June - other sites did have their pools open by then. The toilets were not very clean, the hand basins near them didn't work. There were some workers next to us who talked until past midnight and 2 were sleeping in their car. It all felt rather shabby, which is a shame, since the site is in a perfect position next to the Canal du Midi.
We haved used ACIS on many occasions over the years and have always found your discription to be accurate. Not on this occasion. The toilets were closed, the only tolites avilable were for the swimming pool which were uncleaned and dirty. The camp site was all so dirty with the only way to discribe them was strange people wandering around the camp site. Left early next day.
