Loved this campsite. Friendly helpful owners. Large pitch. Good swimming pool with non slip surface on the steps. Cannot comment on showers or toilets as we prefer our own facilities but we would certainly use this peaceful site again. Handy for Limoges (which we found disappointing).
Having read reports of this being the best campsite in France we were initially diappointed. A rather parched field on a remote hill, outside a small village with little to offer. The martyr village of Oradour sur Glane is a drive away. Onsite, the unisex facilities are immaculate but only half were open; bring your own paper. The pool is small but good and the wifi free. One feature, however, makes this site special. We were lucky enough to be on site on a Monday. The owners provide a three course, communal meal at a long trestle table. The linguistic skills of the Dutch made this a delightful event.
Great campsite well laid out pitches, owners very friendly and helpful,in a nice area close to village, would certainly use again
Visited the site in September 2015 so many things were closed/not available as expected. The swimming pool was closed but looked attractive though may be a little small if site were full. Pitches are mostly larger than on many sites. Pitched a twin axle caravan without any problem. Pitches marked out with low hedges and fences. There are not many sites where your morning bread is delivered to the door or where the owner shows you around before you choose your pitch!
Really pleasant husband and wife team who are always available to help.
Toilet block is probably the cleanest we have ever seen. Although two years old the block looked as if it opened that week!!
Would certainly recommend it and will definitely return.
An excellent, well maintained and friendly site with large placements. Good surrounds, able to walk/cycle into local village with shops and cafés and very near Limoges and Oradour sur Glanne. Owners offer a communal meal twice a week which was lovely and morning bread orders are delivered to your door. Good sanitary block but lost one point as no toilet paper supplied. Would definitely recommend this site.
Dutch owned site with some enormous pitches – grassy, hedged and level. Wifi to pay – but couldn’t get on.
Lots of Brits on site whilst we were there – Rotarian Rally. New toilet block with warmish showers, no toilet paper. Walk to plan d’eau down the road with lots of frogs, manmade beach too, swimming possible.
This is a unique and beautiful site, very welcoming. It isn't often if ever that the site owner shows you to your pitch. The pitches themselves are absolutely huge, and any ordered bread etc is delivered to your pitch each morning. The toilet block is well maintained. I would however prefer if toilet paper was supplied rather than having to bring ones own! This is a great site for visiting Oradour sur Glane, which is well worth a visit; it is very poignant. I would definitely recommend visiting the Visitor Centre firstly, (well worth the admission fee) as this sets the whole atrocity in historical context, and adds to the subsequent visit to the town. I found it a very moving experience.
Beautifully maintained site with huge, flat pitches separated by small hedges, some with shade. Very friendly owner who greets all visitors personally and shows them round the site. Twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) he and his wife organise a three course meal in the bar. Local village has two restaurants and a bar. Surrounding area is pretty but not spectacular. Limoges well worth a visit as is Oradour sur Glane. There are a number of Chateaux built by Richard the Lionheart in the area but most are closed until July/August.
Gutes gezapfte Bier! Was will man mehr!Und dann die ruhige Lage!Sollte man unbedingt noch mal besuchen, wenns paßt
This site is the best that we have visited in France for a longtime.
The owners really make our visit a pleasure, from introductory tour of site, weather warnings and the delivery or bread to your pitch.
Well done Antonie and Jolanda
