In six weeks of touring in France, this was my favourite site. It was before the French holidays so very quiet which probably helped. The Dutch owner, is a really laid-back character and met us, shook hands and showed us around to choose a pitch. The pitches are enormous - the biggest I\'ve seen , and immaculately kept. The toilet block was brand new and not yet fully open but was superb in every way. They even had toilet paper!! Once a week you can order a roast chicken, and on another day he does full meals, and your bread order is delivered to your door each morning! The pool is also superb. the nearby village is small and attractive but with no shops to speak of. The only grip I could possibly have is that I had to walk close to the office to get wifi. This is something you encounter all the time and I wish someone could deal with it in this connected age! The site is ideal to visit the awesome Martyr\'s Village, Ouradure-sur-Glane ..
Excellent site with huge pitches, the owners are really nice and give you a tour of the site on arrival. the new facilities block was near completion and is spotless, I could not see ramp access to the block which is slightly raised although they have disabled facilities I think it deserves more stars that it currently has and will definitely stay there again .
A lovely quiet site. The new toilet/shower block was still partly incomplete, but approx 50% of showers and toilets were in use and were excellent. Obviously brand new but spotlessly clean. We were early in the season so not all activities were underway, but bread delivery was much appreciated.
Above all we must mention the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. We had a plumbing problem in our van and they couldn\'t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.
We just love this site and the wonderful young Dutch couple who run it. First discovered when friends had a house nearby, but now we just go for the site, usually on our way home from Spain. Alouettes is handy for visits to Limoges and Oradour sur Glane. There are plenty of walks in the surrounding forests. Early morning and evening bird choruses are amazing in spring. Pitches are very generous and the new impressive sanitaire building was just about to open when we left. Fresh bread and croissants are delivered to your van in the morning and you should try to get to one of the twice-weekly table de hotes meals. Last time we found ourselves the only Brits among a dozen Netherlanders but were made to feel very welcome. There\'s also an excellent little restaurant called La Mandoline in the nearby village of Cognac-la-Foret. A gem of a site.
After being turned away from a camp site in Rochechourt due to being a double axle caravan we discovered this site and were made very welcome by the owners. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the family atmosphere was amazing. Bread was delivered each morning to your door and t was a lovely quite and relaxing site.
We stayed for 4 very enjoyable nights (pity it was not longer), whilst there we joined the set diner, which was alfresco very well made and good value. Overall the pitches are huge, and the site is extremely well kept. We would definitely use again if in the area.
Lovely site, very large pitches, toilets and showers basic but very clean with a new block being built for next year. We attended the meal on the monday night which was a great social evening giving us the opportunity to meet the other campers, the local village is about 5 minutes walk away and the nearest town about 15 minutes drive away.
Very good value for money.
Enjoyed our relaxing 6 night stay. The Dutch owners were very helpful.
We stayed here for 3 nights, we wanted to visit Oradour sur Glane and the campsite is perfect for this. The pitches are the biggest I have experianced and there will be a new toilet block for 2014 ( with toilet seats) the Dutch owners are very friendly and helpfull and do all they can to make your stay enjoyable. The site is quite a distance from the nearest village about a 40 minuet walk at a guess. We will use this site again next year especially if want to play golf.
An extremely warm welcome from the owner when we arrived. He personally showed us the facilities and helped us pick a sunny site, then helped us set up. We had a problem with our water heater whilst on site and Antonie (the owner) spent many hours scrabbling round under our van trying to resolve it. He also phoned a supplier to try to get us the spare part we needed. The whole campsite was immaculately clean. Whilst I was using the free internet in the bar Antonie's wife put a large heater on behind me as I was cold. (Wifi was available for 1 euro). On our day of departure Antonie was ready and waiting to help us manually move our van, as it was a tight corner, then he hitched it up for us and he and his wife waved us on our way. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble for this couple and we will definitely return and would definitely recommend the site.
Excellant campsite very friendly couple, will visit again. Made us feel very welcome. We had trouble with our camper and the garage in the village was helpful; repaired our camper for little money. The garage name is lyda. If anyone should need assistance he is the man to see. All in all a very nice stay. Excellant food and pool.
