Campsite de Montréal ***

General information

Some may call the Limousine region the real France, as it has not been invaded by mass tourism yet. You can still find peace and quiet, yet there is enough to do. Camping Municipal de Montréal is located in this tranquil region, next to a swimming and fishing lake and only a stone's throw away from Nature Park Millevaches en Limousin. The attractive town of Limoges is half an hour's drive away.

Well maintained grounds

The camping site looks well maintained and is kept neat. The pitches are predominantly level, spacious and beautifully laid out and demarcated with straight hedges. Trees provide some shade. Most of the pitches overlook the lake and the surrounding hills. There are a few luxury rental chalets at an affordable price.

Watercycling, fishing and walking

Swimming enthusiasts have a choice: do you jump into the pool or will you swim a lap in the lake adjacent to the camping site? Close to the reception is the well maintained swimming pool with vegetation, loungers and sun umbrellas along one side of the pool. Just outside the entrance gate is the sandy beach with sunbathing lawn along the lake. There are two diving boards here. Also nice: rent a pedalo! Anglers are also welcome, disabled anglers can take a seat on the jetty. There is a playground for children with climbing equipment, a slide and a see-saw, as well as a sports field. There are many walking opportunities in the area. Bicycles can be hired at the camping site.

Tasty dishes

The camping site restaurant with terrace is open to the public during the summer months and offers simple, but tasty dishes. Take-away meals are also offered. A bread service is also available. There is no camping shop, but it is a short walk to the nearby St.-Germain-les-Belles.

Travelling party: Couple

Had a lovely two nights here, there is more to the village than we initially thought (not much but...). Site owners very friendly, though wifi not greatest. Toilet block up the hill didn\'t always have hot water, but the one on the flat did, and was fine. Would stop off again. Pitches mostly good for camping.

Hideous experience! When we booked in, we were not told there were about 100 screaming and shouting kids staying there at the same time. When they all returned in the late afternoon we discovered that our pitch was completely surrounded by them and the noise, ball playing and lack of privacy completely spoilt our stay at what otherwise seemed a nice site.

Travelling party: Seniors

Great welcome by the site owners. Great toilet facilities. Nice location by a lake just outside an interesting old village. Signed route we followed was very narrow and not at all suitable for large units but there may be a safer route (ask the site). Be careful with wifi, only get your access code from the office NOT online. Well worth a visit in a an excellent location.

Pulled into this site for a one night stay over, but stayed for 4 nights. Dutch owners very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Superb food at restaurant, toilet facilities excellent.
Would certainly recommend this site and plan to stay again later in the year.

Toilets very clean, pitch a reasonable size and very private as a result of high hedges. Train station about 30 minutes walk away with trains to Limoges.

Very busy and good site. Facilities were very good, except electrics seemed to trip occasionally. Owners helpful and always working on the site. My wife says the bread from the bakery in the village was the best she has ever tasted. Very convenient site for stopover and close to motorway.

Travelling party: Seniors

Rather a narrow way in via a one way system, not marked as such so we were relieved not to meet anyone coming in the opposite direction. Good night halt especially as we had a hard standing for our motor home during a period of very heavy rain, there are only four and are back from the lake, we chose no mud rather than a lake view! However, the site seemed rather tatty and in spite of running the water in the showers for a good 10 minutes, all I got was very tepid water so had to make do with a shower in our motor home.

Travelling party: Couple

Lovely site in bucolic countryside, friendly hard working Dutch couple who also run the restaurant which serves great food from a simple but more than adequate menu. Small facilities block and spotlessly clean but oh dear tepid showers! Wifi paid for but practically worthless, drives you mad. Village a short walk away with a little shop and not much else. I would love to return but I am afraid cold showers and no wi fi means we won\'t be back.

Great little campsite in lovely surroundings next to a small lake. Pitches with views over lake. Stayed here on the way to South of France and on the way back. Quite close to A20 autoroute so ideal for stopover. Site owners very nice and welcoming, very helpful. Restaurant was excellent with great food. Will definitely stay here again.
