This is our second visit to our favourite site and location in France. Hanni and Ari go out of their way to make all of their guests welcome. On this occasion we stayed for ten nights! We normally stay no longer than three on a site! The only downside is the wifi relative high cost.
When my wife was unwell Hanni arranged an appointment to the Dr., drove her there, accompanied, translated and went out of her way to help.
Looking forward to returning in the near future.
This had all the makings of an excellent site. The owners were very helpful and friendly, the pitches were of a good size with plenty of choice and the facilities spotlessly clean. However, the trees harboured thousands of shield bugs which crawled into every nook and cranny. We have killed around 70 since we returned over four weeks ago and have had to spray the inside of the van in an effort to kill them all. I have had to remove the internal blind fittings from the windows and skylights in order to get at these insects. In forty years of travelling abroad we have never experienced anything like this before and it is for this reason only that we shall not be returning.
A beautifully located tranquill site with stunning views and very attentive a helpfull owners. Will definately return.
Set in the rolling hills of Armagnac country, Le Domaine du Castex is a family run site a mere 15 minutes stroll from the medieval village of Aignan, with its picturesque square surrounded by artisan shops, bars and restaurants. As well as 16 bungalows, there are 51 pitches, some with a beautiful view across the valley. All have electricity and are marked by trees and shrubs which provide partial shade. The Dutch owners, Honey and Aarie, speak excellent English and are very welcoming. They serve drinks and fixed menu or simple “Table D’Hotes” meals in the bar as required. The site has a small shop from which bread can be ordered daily. In addition to a play area for the kids, guests have use of a large and well maintained outdoor pool.
The site sits around 1km south west of Aignan and is well signposted from the village but can be missed if approaching on the D48 from the west.
A beautiful, tranquil site. Lush fauna and great views. The owners provided everything we needed and were extremely hospitable. This was a fine relaxing overnight stop on our way from Toulouse to the Biscay.
A very pleasant, peaceful camp site in beautiful, rural surroundings. Perfect for relaxing and getting away from it all. Chalet was clean and comfortable, with all the necessary equipment and appliances. Lovely swimming pool and very friendly welcome from the owners. Our small dog was made very welcome, too!
At the time of year we stayed, there were few campers and it had the atmosphere of camping in someone's back garden. The Dutch owners were very hospitable and welcomed us back to the site each day. The sanitary block was in the process of being refurbished, and as it was taking longer than expected, we were given the use of a spare chalet instead. Unfortunately, the first night some people staying in the chalets mistook the campers' one for theirs, which meant we had no facilities at all after 10pm. In the morning we were given use of the gite bathroom, and thereafter another chalet bathroom. The surrounding area is pleasant, but with less interesting places to visit than we had expected. There was a bullfighting festival in the village the weekend we were there, with a lot of the participants staying at the campsite in chalets. However apart from one night when they had a big party, the campsite was quiet and relaxing. Wifi worked well, but wasn't free.
