Camping site Domaine de la Paille Basse, a country estate camping site in the Castels chain is situated on a forested ridge near Souillac (Lot). The first thing you notice is the beautiful view and the harmony with which the camping site has been integrated into the surrounding nature. The property is very green and well maintained with a number of colourful flower pots. The restored medieval farms now house the reception and a charming restaurant.

Camping or glamping?

Here camping varies from basic to luxurious. The spacious campsites are pretty, primarily flat and well organized. The sanitation is modern. There is a choice of a standard site with or without electricity, a comfort site with a water connection and a premium site with its own refrigerator, picnic table, gas barbecue and two loungers. If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent a Coco Sweet tent or choose the spacious and charming glamping tent.

Water fun and amusement

The camping site has three swimming pools, a large and deep outdoor pool, a heated shallow pool and a heated kiddie pool. There are also four water slides next to each other and a water play area for the little ones. There are play areas, tennis courts, a grass football pitch and jeu-de-boules pitch. The older youth can strut the latest dance moves in the teenager disco (July and August).

To do and see

La Paille Basse is very child-friendly, so in the summer months many families have fun with the children. Other guests are active campers who like to hike in the surrounding area and culture lovers who really love the picturesque villages, castles and churches in the area.

Liked - Very nice campsite . Loved the buildings and area
Disliked - A bit to expensive, a very slow and bad wifi. No hot water for dishwashing and a long and bad road to the campister. Missed a nice view. Some of the stuff that make us say that it was too expensive. But it was a nice stay and helpful ang smiling People. Loved the cleaning lady singing very gentle, made me smile every mor ING.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Nice smaller site; quiet and very very good facilities. Great people.
Disliked - Our pitch was small after stating we had a large caravan so we didn’t have enough space. The not aggressive or stinging wasps were an inconvenience to the point where we couldn’t eat outside the caravan or the restaurant.

Liked - We find The site a relaxing environment that is spread out to suit different visitors needs. The communal areas are not overally busy and the entertainment / facilities are in context with the overall feel of the site.
Disliked - The only small criticism we can have is sunbeds! Partly the fault of those people that ‘reserve them with their towel at 0830 and then use them Intermitedly during the day. Maybe a use it or lose it rule or there is room for extra beds.

Liked - As usual we loved the atmosphere. The pool area is great, the new café beside the pool was perfect for morning coffee, the entertainment was very good and also the aqua gym and muscle classes by Gora were fun.
Disliked - This was our 4th visit to Paille Basse and the 3rd time in the glamping tents. 2013 and 2014 the glamping was wonderful. The tents were new (only two big tents and 2 small tents), lots of luxurious extras eg cushions, mirror, carpet, beds already made up, wooden table and chairs, wooden deck chairs, a large canopy. This summer we were sadly very disappointed with the glamping facilities. There were 4 big tents. and 4 small (too many and too close), tents were old and dirty, beds not made up, no extras. There is a basic picnic table and bench and a cheap parasol so we could not sit outside.
