We stayed here 6 nights (pre-booked from the UK). The site is next to the river and the Loire A Velo cycle route. If you are self sufficient you might be fine but if you use any of the site services be ready to be disappointed!
The shower and toilet block is not very clean, with simple things like soap not being provided in the toilets (one camper left a note about the soap dispenser being empty but all that happened was the note was removed by the "cleaning" staff the next day).
There is an on site restaurant but it is expensive with deceitful staff. We tried one of their self cook meals and selected the seafood one. However the fish was served with the skin upwards so we only discovered later they had substituted a cheap white fish for the salmon specified on the menu. With no staff around we continued with the rest of the meal - in retrospect we should have refused the whole lot because they refused to give any discount for not providing what was stated on the menu. Also portion sizes were small but the price was high.
Finally please be aware that there are a LOT of flies at this site, especially at dusk, and pigeons everywhere. Expect to have to give your vehicle a very thorough cleaning when you leave and think twice before opening any roof windows on a hot evening - our skylights were well splattered!
Totally not recommended
This site is in a beautiful location however if you are given a pitch anywhere near the play area do not expect any sleep before midnight. The owners take no responsibility for their guests having taken your money. Children played and jumped on trampolines screaming and shouting until well past 11pm. Some families in accommodation have no idea of camping etiquette and feel that walking across your pitch (between your table and chairs) is ok ... Wonder how they would feel if we set up our table and chairs on the deck they have paid for?! Regardless of their lack of respect the owners made no effort to achieve quiet after 10 or 11pm!! The food was very slow and not worthy of note. Facilities were clean but with obligatory smell of drains. Locally there is lots to see and great cycling but there must be better sites nearby.
The Loire had flooded this site to a height of several feet just weeks before our rally; Clemence and his staff had done an amazing job in returning the site to such a good condition. Unfortunately the mosquito probelm is outside their control - even the locals were complaining about them. Although we have been camping for over 40 years we have never encountered burglaries on campsites before and it would have been helpful if a warning that the campsites in the Loire Valley have had this problem had been given - perhaps then 14 caravan, motorhomes and tents would not have been robbed in one night - whilst occupied.
Good position in the interesting Loire Village of Montsoreau with shops restaurants walks and cycle ways. Good sized pitches with 16amp electricity and level ground. Toilets were fairly basic - no seats, no hot water in toilets. Showers are unisex with shower heads that project the water out of the door, and you have the waste water from the adjacent shower draining across yours. Staff in the office were rather vague and dis-organised; some difficulty because pitch numbers were missing. Very good well maintained pool. Some good flower beds. The owner, Clement, organised some very good activities for our group but we felt he could have been more involved with the day to day running of the site.
