Château de Chanteloup is a castle campsite in the Sarthe close to Le Mans. The campsite is situated on the beautiful estate around the castle with lawns, forests and ponds. The camping pitches on grass are spacious and demarcated by trees, flower fields and woodpiles.

Estate campsite

The camping fields are located around the castle and the historical outbuildings. The history of Chanteloup, originally a small stately home, dates back to 1400, but the main buildings are from the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. The swimming pool is nicely blended into the landscape and is surrounded by lawns and greenery.

A sense of calmness prevails at the swimming pool. Not far from the swimming pool you will find playground equipment for children, such as a trampoline, bouncer and swings.

Historical guest quarters

Château de Chanteloup has five guest quarters established in the old buildings. They are furnished with antique or rural family heirlooms, yet equipped with modern comforts like television and dishwasher. Almost all quarters have a private garden with garden furniture, loungers and a barbecue. In addition, there are glamping tents which have also been partly fitted out in authentic style. Children will be delighted with their own small tent next to the large tent with all conveniences.

Plenty to do

The campsite also offers amenities for sports and games. There are soccer and volley ball fields and a fitness area. Activities such as sports tournaments, games and building huts, are organised on a regular basis. In high season there is a mini club for children aged 4 to 10. Activities such as canoeing, paintballing or tree climbing are available in the immediate vicinity. Car racing fans can go to the racing circuit of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Chanteloupe. Staff are friendly and obliging. Lovely atmosphere in the bar area. This trip we got stuck in the verger area. 5 of the staff came to our rescue, got soaked wet through in the process but still smiling. Takeaway food such a high quality.

Liked - What a fabulous campsite, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay getting the atmosphere of Le Mans and the party Friday and Sunday night. Clean, well maintained facilities made the stay ideal. 5* from our group, we will be back.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Have stayed here since the late 80's for the 24Hrs and must say the site was looking very good with the changes and ongoing work that has been undertaken. Typical Le Mans weekend although did seem less variety of cars and seemingly down on numbers. Baker, fresh croissant and bread every morning..
Disliked - Despite the location, site, hospitality etc. it is an expensive site, even more so as prices are increased somewhat for the Le Mans 'weekend'. Closing restaurant on Sunday for a special site meal, couldn't get alternative all be it Pizza. Shop is very small. Restaurant, 'achilles heel'. Efforts to improve seating area are good but food leaves a lot to be desired, Pizzas OK. 'Special 'Pig' meal extremely expensive for what was served, to be told, only two pieces of cheese! Save your money. Paying for poor WiFi on top.

Liked - We hav ebeen staying at Chanteloup for 20 years for the Le Mans 24H weekend, it never fails to deliver. Great pitch, good size, decent food and facilities. Hot showers!

Liked - Atmosphere and friendliness by staff. Environment of the Chateau grounds. Large screen TV. The Le Mans theme carried through. Garden Party amazing. And provision of the hog roast.
Disliked - Nearer toilet facilities... and one in the Chateau area near the bar....Some quick alternative to pizzas. And there was no provision for vegetarian on hog roast night. How about a free to you mobile catering company would help to take stress off yourselves and provide more alternatives. Live band would do better if it played covers as Brits love singing and dancing along to their favourite band music. Alternative TV for watching other sporting type activities.
