Château de Chanteloup is a castle campsite in the Sarthe close to Le Mans. The campsite is situated on the beautiful estate around the castle with lawns, forests and ponds. The camping pitches on grass are spacious and demarcated by trees, flower fields and woodpiles.

Estate campsite

The camping fields are located around the castle and the historical outbuildings. The history of Chanteloup, originally a small stately home, dates back to 1400, but the main buildings are from the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. The swimming pool is nicely blended into the landscape and is surrounded by lawns and greenery.

A sense of calmness prevails at the swimming pool. Not far from the swimming pool you will find playground equipment for children, such as a trampoline, bouncer and swings.

Historical guest quarters

Château de Chanteloup has five guest quarters established in the old buildings. They are furnished with antique or rural family heirlooms, yet equipped with modern comforts like television and dishwasher. Almost all quarters have a private garden with garden furniture, loungers and a barbecue. In addition, there are glamping tents which have also been partly fitted out in authentic style. Children will be delighted with their own small tent next to the large tent with all conveniences.

Plenty to do

The campsite also offers amenities for sports and games. There are soccer and volley ball fields and a fitness area. Activities such as sports tournaments, games and building huts, are organised on a regular basis. In high season there is a mini club for children aged 4 to 10. Activities such as canoeing, paintballing or tree climbing are available in the immediate vicinity. Car racing fans can go to the racing circuit of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Liked - Wunderschön gelegener weitläufiger Platz mit großen Parzellen. Freundliches Personal
Disliked - Das Essen im Restaurant war leider sehr schlecht. Der Salat war teilweise faul und viel zu teuer. Die Pizza war nicht gar.

Liked - Aanwezigheid bar/ restaurant. / wasmachines/ droger, Ontzorgen huishoudelijke taken.
Disliked - Toiletten kunnen wat frisser ruiken, meer schoonmaken of meer luchtverfirissers gebruiken .

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - Pitch close to the Chateau was lovely but I would not have wanted to be in the woods. People friendly. Very quiet where you can rest but a little boring after a while.
Disliked - We arrived week before LeMans and it was not ready to receive people. The restaurant was more cafe with higher prices and didn’t know how to uncork a bottle as team were not trained no shop to get basic stuff which when in a MH is a nice to have after setting up as nothing close by either. There was a load of effort in the last few days pre leman which made it annoying as we paid the same should. but we’re clearly lees important in regards details.. You also have to pay for Wi-Fi which should be included as it is not a cheap place to stay. Left a day early overall expectations not achieved

Liked - The location and general ambiance of the site made it a very relaxing place to stay. The setting around the château and lake made it idyllic. Only an overnight on this occasion but we shall most certainly return for a longer stay.
Disliked - The restaurant on our stay was not what we would have expected for a site of this standard.

Liked - De camping is prachtig en handig ingedeeld, zodat je dicht bij van alles bent, maar door de vele bomen heb je weinig geluidsoverlast van bv het zwembad of speeltuin.. Hele mooie ruime plekken en de hele omgeving goed onderhouden, maar met ook veel niet ingevulde ruimte, wat maakt dat je echt het gevoel hebt dat je in een bos zit en voor de kinderen dat ze op avontuur kunnen. Het pleintje voor het kasteel, bij de bar is heel sfeervol. Hetzelfde geldt voor het zwembad en de speeltuin (met te gekke kabelbaan).
Disliked - De winkel is zelden open en er is eigenlijk niets te koop, ook niet bijvoorbeeld iets lekkers of regionale producten. Jammer! Het restaurant was niet zo lekker en de bediening een beetje vreemd. De activiteiten die georganiseerd werden waren vooral voor kleine kinderen, onze tweede week werd er (behalve de kids club) niets meer georganiseerd. De jonge dames van de receptie waren vriendelijk, maar uitzonderingen daargelaten nogal passief. Het wifi netwerk deed het 1,5 week niet, waarover minimale communicatie, geen excuses en geen pro-actieve actie (bv mogelijkheid om computer te gebruiken).
