Château de Chanteloup is a castle campsite in the Sarthe close to Le Mans. The campsite is situated on the beautiful estate around the castle with lawns, forests and ponds. The camping pitches on grass are spacious and demarcated by trees, flower fields and woodpiles.

Estate campsite

The camping fields are located around the castle and the historical outbuildings. The history of Chanteloup, originally a small stately home, dates back to 1400, but the main buildings are from the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. The swimming pool is nicely blended into the landscape and is surrounded by lawns and greenery.

A sense of calmness prevails at the swimming pool. Not far from the swimming pool you will find playground equipment for children, such as a trampoline, bouncer and swings.

Historical guest quarters

Château de Chanteloup has five guest quarters established in the old buildings. They are furnished with antique or rural family heirlooms, yet equipped with modern comforts like television and dishwasher. Almost all quarters have a private garden with garden furniture, loungers and a barbecue. In addition, there are glamping tents which have also been partly fitted out in authentic style. Children will be delighted with their own small tent next to the large tent with all conveniences.

Plenty to do

The campsite also offers amenities for sports and games. There are soccer and volley ball fields and a fitness area. Activities such as sports tournaments, games and building huts, are organised on a regular basis. In high season there is a mini club for children aged 4 to 10. Activities such as canoeing, paintballing or tree climbing are available in the immediate vicinity. Car racing fans can go to the racing circuit of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Travelling party: Group of friends

Liked - Erg grote tentplaats , mooie rustige locatie. Lekker om wat te eten en drinken met een gezellige bar. Erg schoon sanitair en een zwembad erbij.
Disliked - Slechte wegen op de camping met hobbels en gaten. s' Avonds zeer slecht verlicht. Komende vanuit en naar het bos is het veel te donker. .Liep s' avonds tegen een stoel aan bij het camping winkeltje

Liked - De sfeer is relaxed.
Het is mooi.
Tafeltennisbadjes en jeux de boules ballen liggen klaar.
Goede bar en terras.
Goed sanitair.
75% Engelsen, 20% Nederlanders, 5% overig, maar heb geen Fransen op de camping gezien.
Leuk fris zwembad.
Iedereen kletst met elkaar en je voelt je er gelijk welkom.
De camping is goed onderhouden.
Disliked - Het ontvangst was waardeloos. Het meisje van de receptie reed voor ons uit op golfcard, maar liet ons de hele camping overrijden langs smalle grindpaden en strak langs bomen terwijl onze plek gewoon dichtbij was met een kort en goed begaanbaar pad. Wilde ze extra lang op de golfcard rijden ofzo? Beter niet uitproberen bij mensen met een caravan die niet de krassen van bomen op hun ruiten willen.

De winkel heeft maar een paar producten met veel te hoge prijzen. Beter wat meer producten voor iets normalere prijzen. Dat levert uiteindelijk meer op.

Het restaurant is wat amateuristisch.

Liked - Veld vooraan aan linker zijde, mooie grote plekken met schaduw. Ideaal met kleine kinderen.
Disliked - Sanitair ver weg van de plekken meer vooraan op de camping. Tweede sanitair gebouw vaak wc’s dicht, ijskoud water voor de afwas, ijsjes aan de dure kant. Zwembad kleiner dan verwacht. Veel gasten wat dan erg veel is voor de grote van het zwembad.

Travelling party: Family with children, 12 - 18 years

Liked - De camping is prachtig en handig ingedeeld, zodat je dicht bij van alles bent, maar door de vele bomen heb je weinig geluidsoverlast van bv het zwembad of speeltuin.. Hele mooie ruime plekken en de hele omgeving goed onderhouden, maar met ook veel niet ingevulde ruimte, wat maakt dat je echt het gevoel hebt dat je in een bos zit en voor de kinderen dat ze op avontuur kunnen. Het pleintje voor het kasteel, bij de bar is heel sfeervol. Hetzelfde geldt voor het zwembad en de speeltuin (met te gekke kabelbaan).
Disliked - De winkel is zelden open en er is eigenlijk niets te koop, ook niet bijvoorbeeld iets lekkers of regionale producten. Jammer! Het restaurant was niet zo lekker en de bediening een beetje vreemd. De activiteiten die georganiseerd werden waren vooral voor kleine kinderen, onze tweede week werd er (behalve de kids club) niets meer georganiseerd. De jonge dames van de receptie waren vriendelijk, maar uitzonderingen daargelaten nogal passief. Het wifi netwerk deed het 1,5 week niet, waarover minimale communicatie, geen excuses en geen pro-actieve actie (bv mogelijkheid om computer te gebruiken).

Liked - Zwembad, ruime plaatsen, sfeervolle en rustige camping met keuze uit verschillende type plaatsen.
Disliked - Onze kampeerplek was ver van de speelvoorzieningen voor kleinere kinderen. Op het veld stonden ook nauwelijks andere kinderen maar werd veel gebruikt voor kort verblijf waardoor er weinig aansluiting was met andere
(jonge) gasten. Hygiëne was onder de maat!

Liked - Fijne camping. Ruime plekken en vriendelijke mensen.
Disliked - De hygiëne liet te wensen over. Was regelmatig erg vies. Vaak koud water bij onze plek N21 toiletgebruik daar had koud water en kapotte douche.dit heeft onderhoud nodig
