La Garangeoire castle campsite is a large, friendly campsite close to the Atlantic Ocean. The campsite near St. Julien des Landes has something to offer just about every camper, from horse riding to wine tasting and canoeing to massage. Camp on a spacious camping pitch or in one of the many accommodation units on the expansive site.

A rustic scene

La Garangeoire castle campsite is located at the heart of the French countryside and just 15 kilometres from the Atlantic coast. You can have your feet in the sand or dip your toe in the ocean within twenty minutes (by car), or for fun in the water closer to home, why not check out one of the many lakes that surround the campsite, such as Lac du Jaunay?

As you drive along the long driveway to the campsite, you will see the castle in the distance — through the trees. The grounds contain the castle and its extensive estate of mature forest, grass fields and sandy paths. It's a rustic scene. The site accommodates spacious camping pitches and a variety of accommodation types. Many of the pitches have private sanitary facilities.

A little charm

The campsite is popular with all manner of holidaymakers, from young families with small children to older children and couples looking to enjoy the countryside. This varied campsite is full of charm and offers something for everyone.

The campsite has a large heated outdoor swimming pool with slides and toddlers' pool. The campsite also boats a natural swimming pool with sandy beach, plus a lake on the northern edge, which is suitable for fishing and canoeing.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Great facilities, family friendly with lots of activities for kids.
Disliked - It was tricky trying to get sunbeds around the pool because people were reserving them - better policing of this would ensure there are sun beds for everyone during very busy times.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - We had a wonderful holiday at this campsite. Our children are both under 10 and they were well catered for. The swimming pool was great and it is an excellent location for some of the local attractions. I recommend puy du fou and the grand défi (which is pretty much next door). Reception staff really approachable and friendly. Everything was very clean. We booked directly with the campsite which was easy.

Liked - The campsite setting is beautiful. We stayed on a premium camping pitch and the site was fantastic - large hedges separating each pitch to provide privacy. The restaurant was very impressive - delicious food of a high standard, take-away options plentiful too. The catering staff were so friendly and welcoming, it was nice to relax in the courtyard and enjoy a drink in evenings whilst the kids can play nearby.
Disliked - The toilet/shower facilities were often very dirty (daily). Appreciate that we stayed during peak holiday season, however we stayed at other campsites during this period and the facilities on those (similar) sites were significantly cleaner. The uncovered swimming pool was also very crowded most of the time.

Liked - We liked everything really! We had the best meal of our holiday in the restaurant! It was absolutely delicious! And the service was excellent too. Friendly and helpful staff. We also thought the planting around the camp was very beautiful. Gorgeous, well tended plants. So hats off to your gardeners! And of course, the wonderful celebrations for your 60th anniversary. What a fabulous evening it was. A really lovely stay and so much to see and do. Fabulous!
Disliked - Milk alternative for coffee ie soya, oat, coconut milk would have been good.

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - So helpful in arranging a pitch close to our daughter and family who were in a cabin. Loved the 60th party and the range of things we could do with our grandson. Close enough to the beach for quick visit (lots of free car parking).
Disliked - Shame the lagoon was shut on the first really hot day and when the lake had a competition going on. Grateful that our daughter had a car so we could all go to the nearby beach.

Liked - Reception very welcoming. Bivouac site very comfortable. Market on site well stocked.
Family playland.
Disliked - Horse manure smell during dinner was overwhelming.
Sanitaries a long way from campsite.
Lots of kids everywhere - hard if you’re not used to noise and action.
Restaurant closed on Monday during high season.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - The campsite itself is very clean and suitable for all ages with plenty to do during your stay. The staff and service was great and everybody is friendly. We ate at the restaurant on a number of occasions and was impressed with the food and service we received, particular thanks to Michael who couldn’t do any more to make our visit any better, also thanks to Kyle.
Disliked - During our stay, we had a cooked chicken from the takeaway, this chicken was so tough that we had to throw it away.
As you leave reception on arrival to the pitch the first dog leg bend has a blind spot and it’s not always possible to see the children (or adults!) on bikes, maybe a convex mirror would help?
Not sure if already there, but solar would be a great improvement for the environment.

Liked - We loved our stay at our new site, it was a beautiful site, very friendly and welcoming staff.
Lots to join in with, loved the walks around the estate. So pleased our stay was while the 60th celebrations took place as this was an incredible evening.
Disliked - The corner on the entrance , turning into the accommodation is a little tight and not well sighted.
Maybe more speed ramps as some cars travel far to fast with lots of children around.
The shower block near our pitch maybe needs a little updating

Liked - Very enthusiastic welcome

Certainly great for families with lots to do
Disliked - On arrival with a large touring caravan there is little or no space to pull up to check-in with out block peoples access.
Please also direct/escort large touring units via the larger roadway as to try and manoeuvre around some of the corners is near impossible
