La Garangeoire castle campsite is a large, friendly campsite close to the Atlantic Ocean. The campsite near St. Julien des Landes has something to offer just about every camper, from horse riding to diving lessons and canoeing to massage. Camp on a spacious camping pitch or in one of the many accommodation units on the expansive site.

A rustic scene

La Garangeoire castle campsite is located at the heart of the French countryside and just 15 kilometres from the Atlantic coast. You can have your feet in the sand or dip your toe in the ocean within twenty minutes (by car), or for fun in the water closer to home, why not check out one of the many lakes that surround the campsite, such as Lac du Jaunay?

As you drive along the long driveway to the campsite, you will see the castle in the distance — through the trees. The grounds contain the castle and its extensive estate of mature forest, grass fields and sandy paths. It's a rustic scene. The site accommodates spacious camping pitches and a variety of accommodation types.

A little charm

The campsite is popular with all manner of holidaymakers, from young families with small children to older children and couples looking to enjoy the countryside. This varied campsite is full of charm and offers something for everyone.

The campsite has a large heated outdoor swimming pool with slides and toddlers' pool plus a heated indoor swimming pool. Diving lessons are arranged in the swimming pools. The campsite also boats a natural swimming pool with sandy beach, plus a lake on the northern edge, which is suitable for fishing and canoeing.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - The campsite itself is very clean and suitable for all ages with plenty to do during your stay. The staff and service was great and everybody is friendly. We ate at the restaurant on a number of occasions and was impressed with the food and service we received, particular thanks to Michael who couldn’t do any more to make our visit any better, also thanks to Kyle.
Disliked - During our stay, we had a cooked chicken from the takeaway, this chicken was so tough that we had to throw it away.
As you leave reception on arrival to the pitch the first dog leg bend has a blind spot and it’s not always possible to see the children (or adults!) on bikes, maybe a convex mirror would help?
Not sure if already there, but solar would be a great improvement for the environment.

Liked - We loved our stay at our new site, it was a beautiful site, very friendly and welcoming staff.
Lots to join in with, loved the walks around the estate. So pleased our stay was while the 60th celebrations took place as this was an incredible evening.
Disliked - The corner on the entrance , turning into the accommodation is a little tight and not well sighted.
Maybe more speed ramps as some cars travel far to fast with lots of children around.
The shower block near our pitch maybe needs a little updating

Liked - Very enthusiastic welcome
Pitch large with all services
Certainly great for families with lots to do
Disliked - On arrival with a large touring caravan there is little or no space to pull up to check-in with out block peoples access.
Please also direct/escort large touring units via the larger roadway as to try and manoeuvre around some of the corners is near impossible

Liked - This was the first time we've stayed in one spot for more than 7-10 nights. We could have stayed another 3 weeks easily! Really enjoyed the 60th Birthday meal celebration on the lawn and the Discovery Walk of La Garangeoire with Anne. If you've never done it, please do as you'll get a newfound appreciation for everything that's special about La Garangeoire.

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - The pitch was a great size, and having water, drainage and electricity made the holiday so relaxing. The staff were very friendly and it was great to have the restaurant, take-away and shop on site. Also the toilet/ shower blocks were being constantly cleaned and it was great to have the facility to use the washing machines. The lagoon was amazing and having the lake to fish , walk round or use the boats was great. The swimming pool was lovely with plenty of loungers. The park and sports areas were also good. We enjoyed the marked walks around the woodland.
Disliked - The boats were difficult to access. The lagoon had no shade. It would have been nice if a transport was laid on to visit local attractions such as Lac Jeunay and Les Sables. Should have had more shade round the pool.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Again another fantastic holiday at La Garangeoire. This is our 7th year and it really is like home from home for us. Our three children aged 13, 8 and 11 all love being at La Garangeoire. This year the night walk was a massive hit and of course the night swim! Anne and Eric and all their staff continously go above and beyond to make La Garangeoire as special as it is. We are looking forward to returning again next year.

Liked - Family friendly - all ages well catered for. The perfect place to male and share precious memories with family. A large site, yet quiet, and relaxed. A well stocked shop with sensible prices, and a good restaurant. Helpful and cheery staff. We came in iur caravan to share a holiday with our daughter and small grandson who were staying in a nearby holiday cabin, and had a magical time.
Disliked - The vegetation near the main ‘crossroad/corner’ would benefit from being cut back as there were numerous times when cars/site buggies/small children running or on scooters almost came to grief as the corner is busy, used by all types of camper and vehicles, and quite a ‘blind bend’. We also experienced a number of people driving far too fast in the small roads where children could run out (including staff members on buggies).

Liked - Beautiful location, very well-run by hard-working family
Good facilities, good activities
Disliked - The new Safari Village is gnerally beautifully done. However the usability of the deck space is pretty comprimised by the heavy wooden furniture - particularly the 'armchairs'. It would be good to have an outdoor table and three stool at the bar rather than 2. I would re-consider the 'armchairs' completely - they have a very large footprint [ on quite a compact deck ] and are very heavy to move even for an adult male.
