A rustic scene

La Garangeoire castle campsite is located at the heart of the French countryside and just 15 kilometres from the Atlantic coast. You can have your feet in the sand or dip your toe in the ocean within twenty minutes (by car), or for fun in the water closer to home, why not check out one of the many lakes that surround the campsite, such as Lac du Jaunay?

As you drive along the long driveway to the campsite, you will see the castle in the distance — through the trees. The grounds contain the castle and its extensive estate of mature forest, grass fields and sandy paths. It's a rustic scene. The site accommodates spacious camping pitches and a variety of accommodation types.

Liked - We have two dogs and the forest walks were first class. Different walk each day. There is something for everyone here. Receptionists were first class and went out of their way to help.

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - Liked everything, been here a number of times over many years and it never fails to meet our expectations .We stayed in our caravan in late May which is early season for the site but everything was up and running.
Staff friendly and helpful and owners are in evidence around the site making sure everything is running smoothly
Facilities good for all young and old, particularly for young families. Restaurant very good and the take away is second to none offering dishes from the restaurant menu as well as the normal fayre.

Disliked - No.

Liked - Anne, Eric and the team have worked so hard during the pandemic to ensure we are all safe and enjoy our time at La Garangeoire. The location has been tastefully improved and looks even more stunning than when we last stayed in 2019. The one thing that always makes our holiday special is the staff. Each and every one of them are excellent and do so much to welcome us and make our stay perfect.

Liked - After a challenging eighteen months, due to Covid, we were very fortunate to not only be able to visit France, but most of all La Garangeoire, our favourite campsite, to recharge, relax in very friendly, relaxed, safe and happy environment. Where the staff are so friendly, helpful, welcoming, cheerful and if there are any issues, will do everything to resolve the issue very quickly. They also provide advise and support.
Disliked - No

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - Huge pitches, lovely mobiles/lodges and high quality facilities epitomise La Garangeoire. In the ownership of the same family since it was established there is an ongoing pride and emphasis upon quality that makes it very special. Set in a glorious wooded environment yet only twenty minutes from some of Europe’s finest beaches it offers the best of both worlds. No huge evening programme of events but calm, peace and tranquility disturbed only by the birds singing which suits us fine. This year’s chef was top class and the mini market and takeaway are both good.
Disliked - There are plans to extend the pool complex which in high season is needed. The area around reception has been pedestrianised right up to the pool areas and a fountain along with troughs of flowers have been added which adds to the overall beauty of the site.

Travelling party: Family with children, 12 - 18 years

Liked - It’s the first time we’ve been this late in the year, it was very quiet which was nice but the evenings were long. We think the site would probably be a little busier in normal times.
Disliked - It would’ve been nice to have a bit of entertainment some time during the week

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - As always the staff at la Garangeoire welcomed us with - Covid secure-! open arms. Always helpful and friendly throughout our stay. La Garangeoire is set in a beautiful and tranquil setting and there is the opportunity to do as much or little as one wants during their stay. We felt very safe in every way throughout our stay and Covid precautions were very reassuring
Disliked - La Garangeoire has excellent eco credentials but the system for depositing recyclables was unnecessarily complicated and we would have liked more access points
