Campsite Le Rouge Gorge is located in the Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, practically on the border of two departments in the Vendée region. For those in the know: the campsite is located near the large theme park Puy du Fou. No wonder you find so many families with children at this campsite. They also enjoy themselves in the fun playground with trampoline, the swimming pool and the paddling pool.
At Le Rouge Gorge, you can choose a pitch on the well-maintained camping grounds. You have a choice of pitches among trees and flowering shrubs. The rented tents, mobile homes and chalets are spread out over the campsite.
Campsite shop and snack bar
The region surrounding the campsite is fantastic. Characteristic of Pays de la Loire is the undulating landscape where you can go for endless walks and bicycle trips. If you're fit enough, you can walk to Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre to do some shopping. This is convenient because outside of the peak season, you will have to make do with the town facilities. The campsite shop and snack bar have limited opening hours during this period.
Put those hiking boots on!
Are you wearing your hiking boots? Good. You can explore the surroundings as soon as you leave the campsite via various paths. You can, for example, walk right into the forests of Barbinière. After a day of hiking, unwind by swimming a couple of lengths in the heated indoor swimming pool. There is also a whirlpool. You will find a number of poolside loungers here as well. With or without a sunshade, whichever you prefer.
Campsite Le Rouge Gorge also has a boules court, of course, as well as a volleyball court and a soccer pitch. You will often find the youngest campers on the bouncy castle.

This is a nice site it has very clean heated toilets and showers a swimming pool open in October and you can order bread and croissants in the morning. With some lovely walks by a beautiful river and an interesting little town dominated by churches we used it for a stopover on our way home but could have stayed longer. The one resturant that was open In the town did very good pizza and there is a good butches bread shop cheese stall etc we will definitely use it again and stay longer.
We have visited this campsite before and been able to choose our emplacement. This time we were allocated an emplacement as far away from the toilet block as possible to be although there was plenty of availability closer. We had to move 2 piles of hedge clippings before we could put the caravan on the emplacement. It was pouring rain so not a good experience. Will not be using this campsite again
Initially we wondered why we'd come to this site. Everyone else was there for the 'Puy de Fou' and we aren't spectators. A walk into the village revealed a few interesting features and then we followed the path direct from the site down to the river. Wow! Who could tire of a landscape like this? The site has good facilities, free wifi around the reception and a nice indoor pool.
Grassy marked out pitches on small rural campsite. Small toilet block which was heated at certain times of the day. Showers were push button and warmish. Lovely walks from the campsite.
What a gem - lovely, warm and calm owners, ice blocks for campers, bakery deliveries, wifi free in reception/pool area spotlessly clean, hot showers and toilets, swimming pool and fabulous walks nearby. Close to Puy de Fou and other attractions. Overall a wonderful stay and great vibe. Highly recommended.
Very good. Helpful and pleasant staff. Good clean facilities (sexes segregrated !). Next door to a large wooded park with lakes. It is a great pity that the town is apparently being redesigned, so there is a long and hard-to-follow detour to get to the site (the signs are there but small and hard to read: you need to stop at each junction to make sure of the way).
