The quiet campsite of Les Etangs du Moulin in the hilly Northern French region of Aisne is designed in the style of the Wild West with saloons, log cabins, covered wagons and tepee tents. Even the local population joins in for a meal in cowboy style and you can take a shower under a waterfall. Anglers can fish to their heart's content in three fish ponds.
Covered wagons and tepee tents
The open terrain is situated among agricultural fields. The spacious and beautifully laid-out pitches with ample privacy are situated adjacent to the fish ponds or on the perimeter with a beautiful rural view. The tents look out on the covered wagons which can be rented. There are hardened areas for campers and caravans. In addition to covered wagons, log cabins and tepee tens can also be rented.
The heated indoor swimming pool with toddler pool and waterfall is also situated in a Western style wooden building with lovely wood beamed ceilings. Loungers can be found outside. The swimming pool closes at 18:00.
There are several fish ponds where camping guest are allowed to fish. Equipment can be rented. There are two ponds with trout and two carp ponds. The campsite has a playground, a sports field and trampolines for children. Mountain bikes and go-carts can be rented and cycling routes are available.
Of course, you also want to step inside the saloon for a beer. The lively bar with fine Belgian beers as well as the cosy restaurant with limited menu is entirely in the style of the Wild West. Locals join in style and dress up as cowboys when eating at the campsite. This is however not compulsory for camping guests.

Liked - The food in the restaurant was nice
Disliked - We were told we could only eat at 7.30 (restaurant opened at 6.30) because there was a large group- this meant we had to feed our toddler beforehand. We also had a camper chair stolen from our pitch during the night and staff seemed disinterested when we informed them of this.
Liked - Accommodation very quirky, great novelty value, my son loved it.
Disliked - Wagons were very close so no privacy
Liked - Beautiful, well equipped and clean gypsy caravan. Very comfortable.
Disliked - Nothing in particular
Liked - We stayed in a wagon and although small for a family of 5 fit the bill. They have great facilities for your stay. Campsite is well laced out with plenty of space for everyone and the facilities and services onsite are great for families. There are fruit trees all around the site which we helped ourselves to Green gages and plums every day. The campsite is in a very rural area and nearest supermarket is 15-20 mins drive away. We chose the campsite as a stop over traveling to the south of France and would definitely visit again. It is roughly 30 minutes off the A26.
Liked - Go karts and swimming pool were enjoyed daily by kids
Disliked - Temperature of the swimming pool
Liked - Nearly everything
Disliked - Shop should stock esstentially items
Liked - We stayed at this site for two nights on our way to Italy. It was perfect for a couple of nights.
I’m not sure if there’s enough to do for much longer than two nights but it was perfect for what we wanted.
The food in the restaurant was perfect, hone cooked and tasty.
I’d recommend bringing supplies with you if you aren’t wanting to eat in the restaurant as the shop is tiny and not very well stocked.
The wagon was fab, the kids beds were bigger than they look in the picture and our three kids (9,7 and 4) thought it was brilliant.
We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2015.
We loved this site. Our camper is 9m+ and we got a really nice secluded pitch close to the park. We have 4 & 6yr old kids who loved the park, pool, trampolines and go carts. We had 2 nice meals in the Resturant. We will defiantly be back. Thank you! X
