On arrival at L’Ocean on Friday the 22nd of June found the site to be closed without notice in app. They are apparently extending site while saying in app. This was very inconvenient to say the least!!! Had to hastily find an alternative.
Rang to book on 7th June
No reply so we arrived to find that it was a building site !!
Why couldn’t they have an answerphone??
Anyway we found a much better site along the coast
We have checked it with the campsite owner. Because of the renovation, campers will be redirected to campsite Village Corsaire, just opposite this campsite which also belongs to the same owner. The campsite owner does not exactly know when the renovation will be finished.
Once we found it, this is a lovely little campsite with big pitches under trees, water for motorhomes may cause slight problem for some as it has push taps but we carry water butt and pump so we had no problem. The town of Chatelaillion Plage close by and has a variety of little shops, the beach is lovely and looked very clean. Disabled facilities good and were clean as were all other toilets and showers. The swimming lake was different and very nice. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One negative point, it states it has wifi but it is hopeless but I was given my money back when I failed to connect. I would recommend this site.
Good campsite near a lovely small town with plenty of character and a beautiful beach and promenade. Good for cycling. Site does not have a water fill up for motorhomes but drinking water taps can be used if you don't mind filling up by hand - we filled with water containers and a funnel. There is a waste disposal facility in the car park outside the main gates. Chemical disposal next to WC's. Very spacious shady pitches and no statics - all tents , motorhomes or touring caravans. Big lake type swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds. Toilets basic but clean and showers fine. Staff helpful. Good site and we would highly recommend if you like a peaceful site which is not over commercialised.
Filling up the caravans Aqua-roll was a bit of an issue: the taps on the site are of the push button type and each push dispenses, I estimate, about a pint/half a litre. It took a long while to fill up. On the plus side, it is a very safe and easy walk into Chatelaillon, which has a long sandy beach and pleasant promenade. Chatelaillon has all the shops you need, butchers, bakers, chemists, cafes and there is an indoor market that was open seven( or perhaps it was six) days a week in June.
Visited in May, very quiet site except for clay pigeon shooting nearby from time to time. Pitches a good size. Facilities very clean and plenty of hot water. Staff friendly and helpful. Entrance signs not very clear.
Nice site with easy access for large outfits. Flat grass pitches and great toilet block, with large outdoor swimming pool that had everything. Plenty to see in the surrounding area, with La Rochelle being the top attraction.
Only spent two nights here then we moved to another site at Port-Punay. We like to use our own shower & toilet in our motorhome but there are no motorhome service point here. IT SAID THERE WAS IN THE ACSI BOOK BUT THERE ARE NOT! Not easy to fill up tank but if you ask at reception they will give you a key for the tap but if you want to empty your tank you have to drive into town. Receptionist very helpful, pool looked nice would have stayed longer if they had a service point. Taps onsite are all pressure type and only let out water when you take you hand off the tap, then only about a litre comes out. Site was clean and well kept but bar/takeaway was not open.
Good site for visit to nice town of Chatelaillon with excellent promenade and pleasent small town. Small supermarket in town, or huge Caarrefour 4 miles away by car or cycle route. Bus stop to La Rochelle near site and busses every hour (June). Could be very goos site but marred by clay pigeon ground nearby e with noise daytime. Showers good, but w.c's basic, male and female all in row, with several stand up variety, none with seats or paper, and no soap in handbags in for w.c's which is not very hygenic. No motorhome point, which is shame as I write this half on site are motorhomes! Site would be excellent apart from these points. 2nd visit
This campsite is small and pleasant but hardly a walkers and cyclists paradise as it was at the edge of a newly developed seaside resort. There are some nice strolls along the seafront and cycle paths alongside some local roads but it wasn't a rural site as we had anticipated.
