We stayed at this site for a week and found it very enjoyable. We selected pitch 84 which is right on the river front and has adequate shade in late afternoon which is essential for this time of year. The pleasant local town is just down the road and has a traditional square where you can eat or enjoy an evening drink. The showers have plenty of hot water but my real criticism is the fact that the lavatories are right next to the washing up area, a bit unhygienic. This was a municipal site and the young Dutch couple running it have in my view, done avery good job in transforming it. On balance we would revisit. Last point wlfi strong.
A fabulous large site alongside the river.
Canoes can be hired free as well as fishing rods.
Few outlets for power, so long leads and/or extension leads required.
Free range goats around ( friendly)
DIY bbq points .
Very helpful and English speaking staff.
Easy walk to old town and Lidl supermarket a short drive.
What a gorgeous site by the river. Large pitches, mostly level, with some shade. Toilets spotless - its the first time I\'ve seen the owner sweeping cobwebs from the outside roof on a daily basis. Short walk into Confolens, which is a lovely old town with a variety of shops and bars, even a fish and chip shop, if you want that sort of thing. Would heartily recommend. Some great cycle routes
A superb little site by the river.
Friendly staff and free WI-FI.
Variety of sunny and shaded pitches but the power points are a bit scarce, so bring an extension lead !
Free fishing and canoeing available.
Town a bit run down but a couple of supermarkets nearby.
Big festival in August
We have all read how fabulous a site is only to arrive and to be disappointed, trust me visit this site and you won't be. I am told it is an ex muncipal site which a couple has bought and are in the process of doing everything up, therefore the facilities are a bit dated but provide good hot showers and very clean toilets. The pitches are flat and very large check before you decide as some of the electrical points can be some distance from the pitch. The young couple running the site offer every assistance. Site is closed during the lunch hour I arrived at 1400 hours on a Sunday and although the site was closed until 1500 hours I was let in and sorted out the admin later once settled in. The town of Confolens has some bars and restaurants but none were used. The main attraction of this site apart from being scenically sited next to the river Vienne is the fact you can fish for free with bait provided in reception and use the sites canoes also for free. Highly recommended sadly only stayed two nights as I was travelling home next time it will be longer
All good except two areas.
No hand washing facilities after use of toilets except those intended for washing up. Also the urinals are also very close to dish washing by with no screening whatsoever. Could have done with hotter water in both showers and washingup.
Stumbled on this site by accident and I am glad I did. The site is a 10 minute from the town, it is flat and on the side of a river. It was run by a young couple who worked hard at keeping it clean and tidy. Free wifi across the site with toilet / shower facilities spotlessly clean with abundant hot water. All pitches are a good size but about half of them have very little shade - we were there in mid September and it was very hot but it was always possible to find some shade. The site does not have a pool so I swam in the river and found it very pleasant. Although we did not use it there was a mobile snack bar on site most evenings. All in all a lovely site and would certainly use it again.
What a gem of a site. Spacious pitches, friendly owners, beautiful surroundings next to the river. Fishing and canoeing is on offer with equipment supplied. The small shop on site has limited supplies but they are very reasonably priced. Short walk into town for usual small town facilities. With out doubt one of the best sites I've stayed in .
Very welcoming well maintained looked after quiet site. English speaking hosts are very helpfull. Close to local amenites. Well worth staying for longer periods as it is very good value for money.
This camping is managed, maintained and serviced solely by a nice young couple who are very friendly and extremely industrious. The pitches are very large and well maintained in a beautiful surrounding with many old trees close to the river. The modern sanitary installations are brand new and of beautiful design. They are spotless clean and well ventilated. The camping site is ideal for a good rest after a long journey. W-Lan (Wifi) is excellent and inclusive.
