Arrived at what at first glance was an ideally located site, although had to wait for staff to return to check in. Due to low season, had a good choice of spacious pitches. We really thought we would have to site to ourselves until a very large noisy group arrived and partied into the early hours shouting and signing at the top of their voices without regard for anyone else. Unable to raise site staff, thus a sleepless night! Party left very early the next day with much noise. Shower blocks were partially closed down and lights would not remain on for more than a minute and basin water was cold. Having stayed two nights it was clear that the block was not cleaned at all during this period. A lot of local noise that carried across the lake during evenings, especially mopeds which could be annoying. The walk to the old town and local walking and cycling facilities were great which far outweighed any negatives.
Peaceful campsite by river with good hot showers in block which seemed brand new - good pitch size and well maintained grounds.
Arrived after a long drive walked my dog had a quick bite to eat then wanted a shower and to drop into bed. Toilet block in darkness returned to camper to find torch. Search toilet block it appeared the main switch was off tried all the sensor but no lighting the hand dryer worked but nothing else. As there were no windows it was very dark. Returned to office and tried the out of hours bell but no one came. Went to bed and decided to shower in the morning. I could have stayed on an aire and saved the site fee.
friendly staff. we had troble with our van and they arranged for us to take it to a garage where they attended to the problem straightaway. it was very quiet when we were there (september) but it was hot so the pool got plenty of use. pitches were large and most in good condition. some however, were very overgrown , almost as if they were lying fallow ! plenty of good pitches were available though. we did a lot of cycling and parthenay has a very interesting medievel part.the sanitaires were very clean and well looked after. we would go again.
Lovely well kept site. We visited 2 days after it opened for the season and were the only ones on site so very quiet and peaceful. Toilet block is modern and very clean! A bit chilly for the swimming pool but it looked clean! Heated in the local leisure centre just across the bridge. The lady owner spoke English and was very helpful. Parthenay is a lovely town. We walked down the river path straight into the old part. We could only stay 2 nights but would certainly go again. Not sure it would be so appealing at the height of the season for us but looks a perfect place for families.
We really liked this site. The pitch we had was huge. The exotic birds and chickens were fun (and the owners even gave us a freshly laid egg). Pool looked good, but too cold to use. Lovely walk along the lake to the town which is well worth a visit. As we didn\'t see all the town will certainly return to this site.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
Excellent We Stayed at this site for one night only as the site was closing for the winter the following day If we had discovered the site earlier we would have stayed longer The owners were very welcoming The site was well kept and the sanitary block WOW was so clean and well laid out There was a lovely public park and indoor swimming pool and town with a large supermarket all within walking distance We will definitely stay there again
Nice size pitch. Spotless modern sanitary block. Site had lots of empty pitches so we chose close to the playground as we had a 7 year old in our party. He was happy with the playground. The electrical posts near our pitch had several damaged sockets - I checked two posts before I found a usable socket. The two young ladies who checked us in seemed bored to be there. The town has a brand new playground and also a big swimming pool which is a 5-10 minute walk from the campsite. There is a Hyper U another 10 mins walk after that. The petrol station at the Hyper U has a low overhang. The old part of the town is beautiful. We would return to this site. The campsite also looks after the wire de service next door which is right on the lake.
We had intended to stay three or four days and ended up staying for two weeks. We had free use of the bikes for our stay and this allowed us to explore the surrounding countryside and nearby villages. We also had free access to the local tennis club courts where we enjoyed playing most afternoons. The town of Parthenay has an old section which is well worth a look.
