A crystal-clear lake where you can go swimming, canoeing and water cycling and a beautiful river for fishing: these are the main attractions of the simple yet fine Camping du Brec. The rough campsite terrain has the look of a wild Canadian 'campground.' This is the ideal spot for people who love the wilderness.
Camping in the wild
The flat terrain is naturally landscaped and somewhat wild in nature, with bushes and trees offering shade to part of the campsite. It's almost as if you're camping in the wilderness. The spacious camping pitches are spread out in an irregular fashion. There are also a few modern bungalows available for rent.
Private lake with all the trimmings
Next to the reception lies the idyllic private lake with crystal-clear water, a sandy beach, several pebble beaches, a jetty, and trees and bushes providing shade all around. There is also a small island in the lake. In the lake, you can go water cycling, swimming or canoeing. You can use the canoes and kayaks for free.
White-water rafting trips
At the campsite, you will find a sports field, a boules court and a large tent with a table tennis table which is also used for activities. A few swings, a small sandbox and a teeter-totter are available for the little ones. There is no other entertainment here. Are you looking for more adventure? The on-site mountain and water sports centre organises guided white-water rafting trips.
Time for a snack
At the campsite, you can get a simple snack, a cold beer or an ice cream. The patio offers beautiful views of the lake. There is also a barbecue area with two large barbecues and a few picnic benches.

Nice site lovely lake and nice walk into medieval town of Entrevaux all in all well worth a visit
We stumbled across this campsite and what a good find that was. Kids loved using the kayaks and paddle boatd (free), and the walk to the medieval city (30 min). Hardly any tourist end of May. Well worth visiting the Citadela. There is a supermarket 15-20 min walk from the campsite. Will gladly return.
A beautiful area. The site is simple and basic. The lake is amazing to swim in and the view from the beach stunning. Facilities dated but clean. Plenty of excellent cycling on the doorstep. Interesting walk to Entrevaux. Bread available and a supermarket nearby. Will return if in the area.
Pleasant basic 'lakeside' site in fairly attractive surroundings. Reasonable san facilities, friendly & helpful staff. Approach road from East passes huge gravel? workings, not giving the best impression & high earth bank obstructs lake view from pitches. Good walk into Entrveaux, may be cyclable with MTB/VTT. Free use of canoe/pedalo, which was fun. Like a previous reviewer, the place grew on us.
We had picked this site out of the ACSI book before leaving England. It looked and sounded like a site we would enjoy having read the reviews etc. I have to say that our initial thoughts as we arrived were disappointing. The approach to the site does not help and driving down the lane for the first time you do wonder where on earth it is taking you. The reception and bar area next to the lake (it is actually a dammed off section of the river) is pleasant enough with good views and affords lots of sunshine. The small lane separates this from the campsite. The site is at a lower level to the lane so there are no views from your pitch of the lake. In fact views from pitches are very limited. The campsite has two characters to it, the lower section within larger older trees and with a main sanitary block of good standard and cleanliness. Separate men and ladies at this facility. The other side of the site is smaller and within younger trees providing more light. Here there is a smaller open mixed sex sanitary facility also of good standard and cleanliness. A nice touch on this campsite is that toilet paper and soap dispensers are installed, (soap only in lower block) probably an influence of the young English lady who runs the site with her French husband. The lower block also has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Hot water is available for hand washing and washing up etc. A toilet and shower is available for those using the lake or returning from rafting, kayaking etc. (A business is ran from the site for these type of activities.)
The site also has a Boules area, Volleyball court and small children’s play area. The bar provides a food and drinks and bread is available to order each day. A supermarket is only a few hundred meters up the lane. Entrevaux Medieval village is a pleasant walk following a trail of under a mile direct from the campsite. I have to say that despite our initial disappointment the campsite grew on us and we ended up staying for 7 nights. The great weather we experienced certainly helped as did the friendly helpful owners and staff.
Very friendly very clean site, lovely lake and nice walk into medieval town all in all well worth a visit.
New owners English/French very helpful and enthusiastically efficient. Very pleasant stay. Pitches shaded by trees. Lake for swimming and white water rafting available on site. Will return.
