Camping Les hautes Prairies is located in the Vaucluse, south of Luberon. You can go on some fun day trips in the area. This well-known touristic region is full of fun sightseeing opportunities, such as castles, vineyards, and charming villages.
Pleasant and tranquil atmosphere
The campsite grounds are well cared-for and rich in flowers. At the spacious reception, which also has tourist brochures available, you will receive a warm welcome from the young owners, Arthur and Anne-Lise. On your way to your pitch, you will experience the peace and tranquility that is characteristic of this campsite. The spacious camping pitches are separated by shrubs and trees and have sufficient shade. A few of the pitches offer a beautiful view of the valley. Slightly less alluring are the pitches situated next to the road.
There are two sanitary blocks which have recently been completely fitted with self-cleaning toilets. The campsite also offers accommodations for rent. There are mobile homes and chalets, but you can also book a hotel room.
Long water slide and loungers for relaxation
In the peak season, you will find an international mix of people on Camping Les Hautes Prairies. There are especially many hikers and backpackers. In the low season, you will share the camping grounds with campers looking for peace and quiet. There is a large and relatively deep swimming pool with a water slide and a view of the mountains.
The campsite features a restaurant with a terrace. The menu is simple and offers a selection of regional dishes. There are also pizzas and takeaways available. There is also a shop for the most basic supplies. For your daily shopping, you can visit the supermarket at the Centre commercial, approximately 3 kilometres outside the village.

This was a good site for us, larger than we would usually choose but well managed. A good cycling area. Pitches were OK, high hedges around them. Toilet facilities very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely outdoor pool. Restaurant simple but OK. Short walk to town for shops and restaurants.
This camp has really helpful and friendly staff with good English. The pool is lovely and very clean but huge so lots and lots of other people (and splashing kids). Great for young kids and Lourmarin is a lovely village a 10 min walk away but if you're after peace and quiet in the sun you might want a quieter pool! Pitches are very dusty at this time of year.
The staff are young and very helpful. It is the second time we have visited this site and we will return again. Loumarin is an easy walk or cycle with good cafes, bars and restaurants. Saturday is market day which is a must do. This is the first site we have been to with self clean spinning toilet seats. Although the majority of pitches are on a slope there is plenty of room with some in shade and some in sun. Generally good screening between pitches. Good safe quiet cycling in the area with plenty to see and do.
This is a really super campsite which is being improved with added facilities. The toilet block was one of the best we have ever had, our pitch was large and sunny with shade. The owners are young, very friendly and very enthusiastic. New slides are being added to the swimming pool and should be ready very soon. The area is very lovely, with great opportunities for cycling, walking and site-seeing. We will be back!!
Although this is our third consecutive year at Camping Les Hautes Prairies, Lourmarin, it is almost certainly our last.
The young staff who run the campsite are friendly and helpful but some of the facilities are poor and do not warrant the high tariffs that are currently being charged. Many of the emplacements are poorly maintained, being overgrown and ill-kempt, whilst the sanitary facilities at the entrance to the camping are modern and fresh, masking the fact that those at the top of the campsite are old and in need of significant improvement. The shower enclosures are mouldy and suffer from rotten wood and there is little point in privacy cubicles if the cannot be locked from the inside. The toilet blocks are cleaned regularly but the times for cleaning are baffling and seem determined by the needs of the cleaner rather than the needs of the camper. How else can one explain why seven year old children are told to use the toilets at the bottom of the campsite at 7.30 in the morning because those at the top are closed for cleaning? Cleaning times are totally random and do not conform to any set timetable.
The wifi is free to use on the campsite but again it only works at the entrance so although everybody pays the same campsite fee, if you are lucky enough to be sited near the entrance, you get a much better deal than those sited further away.
The young staff running the site put a lot of energy into providing a full programme of entertainment for families with children and the campsite does have a very large swimming pool attended full time by a lifeguard but here too there are issues. Yes, the poolside area has been covered with fake grass to hide broken concrete and there has been significant investment in new sun loungers and deck chairs this season but provision for shade is inadequate. With temperatures topping 36+ degrees regularly during our three week stay, three fixed sun parasols are not enough and result in the inevitable placement of towels early in the morning to reserve places. Add in the fact that members of the public who book a meal in the restaurant at lunchtime are granted free access to the pool for the afternoon thus increasing the pressure on limited poolside resources and the overriding impression is that staff are more interested in bar profits than meeting the needs of their resident campers.
Lourmarin is a lovely French village with lots of restaurants and galleries to interest tourists as well as an excellent market on Fridays but there needs to be a sustained and significant improvement in the facilities at Les Haute Prairies if we are to return. Given that it is an alleged three star camp site, Les Hautes Prairies is currently over priced and in need of significant modernisation by the Campasun chain it now belongs to. There are much better campsites in the region which offer better facilities, closer attention to detail and better value for money.
