What a lovely friendly site - run by a family even the children get involved - the pitches are large width wise but not very deep so parking a large motorhome takes a bit of manoeuvring- try to get either pitch 25 or 26 as they are both big and overlook the river. It\\\'s a lovely area to explore but motorhomers make sure you have supplies as there isn\\\'t a shop nearby bread can be ordered from the bar and they also sell ice creams but that\\\'s all - pizzas can also be ordered for delivery to site and they have several hot food vans call on designated nights - we had freshly cooked chicken from one of them which was excellent. The site is very popular with the Dutch. We stayed for 8 nights and did not run out of places to visit. Would definitely return as the staff were all so helpful and friendly. But be aware you have to pay in cash no facility for payment by any type of card.
Dear guest, thank you for your excellent review on Le Castelet. We\'re glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again. Maryline & Didier
This is a lovely campsite, grounds very well tended, nice swimming pool, good restaurant, free wi-fi at bar area, immaculate toilet/showers. Tourist steam train within walking distance. Can cycle into Tournon on quiet road in about 10 minutes and can then join the voie verte along the Rhone if you wish to go further.
The owners make you feel welcome from the very start. As the descrption says the site is terraced. There are actually three long terraces with pitches on each side of the access roads. Access on site is easy and pitches are a good size. The site is adjecent to the Train d\'Ardeche terminus which on a busy day runs three trains out and three back in so does not cause any disturbance. There is a large well maintained field next to the river for any activities or sunbathing. The terrace by the bar is well maintained and welcoming. The sanitary facilities are mixed but are well maintained and clean. The waste bins and recycling are beside the sanitary blocks and are emptied by the owners at least once every day.
We stayed here in our caravan for three nights on our way south in June. We enjoyed everything about this site. It is being run and developed with energy by caring and helpful owners who made our stay a pleasure. We parked outside, booked in, and then walked to choose our pitch – you should do the same: don’t park across the train line expecting to be admitted straight away! Our pitch was flat, grassy, well-separated from others and offered a good balance of sun and shade. It also overlooked the river. Toilets and washing facilities were modern and well-kept. The bar area was welcoming and tempting: we had a beer there some evenings, and used the free wifi. We didn’t use the pool during our stay. We ordered baguettes and croissants each morning. We visited Tournon and other Rhone towns, and we also drove out into the hills further afield – all lovely. I asked at reception about local walks and was given a laminated sheet with a map for a 6km circular walk into the nearby hills. It was a real treat, and shows the thought that is being put in to making this site a success. We really enjoyed our short stay here.
We have had a wonderful time staying at this extremely high standard site. The surroundings are spectacular with a river setting and the mountains and gorges towering around you.
The site is superb; the facilities are 5* the toilet and shower block are built and maintained to the best standard, the pool is lovely and the owners are a lovely family who do everything to make your stay a happy one.
THANKS for our time with you and we really loved the free cherries.
Lovely site. A very warm welcome. Calm atmosphere. Excellent facilities, never busy, always clean. Picturesque location close to the river. Friendly bar/cafe with adequate wifi. Shops a comfortable bike ride away. I'd like to see it when the tourist train is in operation.
