Camping site Le Clapas lies directly on the Ardèche river. You camp here with the famous, very touristy Pont d'Arc and the impressive Gorges de l’Ardėche ‘just around the corner’. A truly fantastic camping site in the south of France. The English speaking owner is very helpful and hospitable.
Former municipal camping site
Around 2005 Le Clapas was still a municipal camping site. Subsequently, the camping was taken over by private owners. They planted trees and used stones from the river to construct walls. The many trees on the slightly sloping terrain now provide shade and create a park-like feel. Everything looks well cared for.
The camping pitches measure between 75 and 100 m2. There are basic pitches for tent campers, who do not need electricity, as well as comfort pitches with electricity connections and even a well.
Snacks and barbecues
In high season a pizza delivery or snack van visits the camping site three times a week. Be sure to join the barbecue or meal (with regional products) prepared by the owner once a week.
Swimming and kayaking
With its setting on the bank of the Ardèche, Le Clapas attracts many canoeists and kayakers The camping site jetty is an added attraction for kayak and canoe owners. With the river a stone's throw away, you will not miss a swimming pool. This is certainly the case when you see that there is an idyllic pebble and rocky beach.
Furthermore, guests can enjoy themselves on the camping grounds with a game of volleyball or soccer. And if you like horse riding or paintballing, you can do both at about 5 km from the camping site. More information is available at the camping site reception.

Liked - The site has a direct access to the river and a little beach - that is wonderful,
the campsite is familiar and quiet
The keeper is very helpful and if people make noise after 22:30 he intervenes,
also he helps when people quarrel -that was really nice
Liked - Campsite not too big. Staff helpful and approachable. Good facilities.
Liked - Nature and silence
Liked - River beach, forest, very friendly staff. Superb location on the ardeche. The cleaner found my phone on the beach and returned it to me.
Liked - Helpful staff, beautiful location.
Liked - Really nice family campsite. Our second visit as we enjoyed the beach with our small children 2 years ago. Beautiful spot on the river close to some gorgeous villages and town. Canoeing was fantastic and brilliant area for cycling. Safe campsite for children to play on bikes. Reasonable choice of food in the evenings although it would be great to have the chicken guy twice in the week.
Disliked - The campsite itself is quiet but there is a lot of noise most nights from neighbouring campsites which goes on quite late. Our pitch was a bit soggy after heavy rain and due to the shade never dried out.
Liked - The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The location is good with access to the river. This is a lovely family friendly campsite. Toilet and shower facilities are a little dated but very clean. The kayaking trips with pick up at site are great fun
Disliked - No,
Liked - Are he region, camping right by the river with beach, food available at campsite
Liked - Nice and small campground, very friendly people, private beach, nice playground for kids.
Liked - The location was perfect, set in an area with lots to see and do. We received a warm welcome with precise explanation of how the site worked and available services. The reception was even kind enough to wait an extra hour to receive us. They were also kind enough to offer us the loan of an electrical extension lead. Overall a very pleasant stay - it was just a night stop over for us but we wish we were able to stay longer.
Disliked - the electrical point was a bit far away but the reception was kind enough to provide us with an extension lead. The grass on the pitch could do with a bit of attention.
