This was our first visit to The Alps and we picked a lovely site for that visit, nestled in a valley, a five minute walk from the village, and surrounded by magnificent mountains. What a joy it was to have breakfast outside the van in bright sunshine and glance up at snow-clad, towering peaks. The pizzas at the restaurant attached to the campsite were really good. The village has all the shops the motorhomer/ caravanner is likely to need: post office, a choice of cafes, bakers, butchers, chemist, and a market on certain days (sorry, I can\'t remember which days).
Our 2nd visit to this absolute gem of a site! Stayed for 8 days at the beginning of September. Surrounded by mountains so just sitting outside the tent looking at the view was enough some days.
Site was quiet and we had a good choice of pitches. Had no trouble getting our Outwell Montana 6 plus extension on. Ground not just stony but rocky. Rock pegs are a must! No pitch far from washing up block. Main toilets/shower block near reception always open but 2nd block was being ‘wound down’ just as we left.
Site well looked after with very friendly owners. Toilet block always clean and the indoor pool was welcome as it can be a bit chilly in September. Restaurant excellent. Closeness to the village a definite plus. Good selection of shops, bars and restaurants and views everywhere you look.
Lots to do and see in the area. Every grade of walking, climbing and many other outdoor activities. Nearby Annecy with its canals and lakeside setting, Geneva and Chamonix close enough for day trips.
A stunning setting with mountain views and within walking distance of a classic Alpine town. All of this more than made up for the basic but adequate shower and toilet facilities. We received a very warm and helpful welcome, once lunch break was over and the gates re-opened. A really good bread stall provided each morning. One of our most memorable stays.
We loved it at Campsite L'Escale! It is situated in amazing surroundings, we just walked around looking up at the views the whole time. Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to try the restaurant. We walked into town which is just a couple of minutes away, the town is also amazing! The staff at the campsite were friendly and spoke very good english, we had the wrong cable for their electric and even though the reception was just closing they went out of their way to find us a converter for our electric. The journey up the mountain to the campsite was breath taking, if not a little scary! But I cannot fault the campsite at all. We would recomend this campsite to everyone!
A great site in a great area, staff were friendly and helpfull at all times, resteraunt food was very good.
When touring the alps this site is a must.
Pool complex very nice for the children. Pitches were a bit small. However, staff less than friendly, very inflexible over arrival and departure times and we noticed them driving around checking that people were packing up before their departure time - just took the shine off a nice stay.
