Camping Les Lanchettes is located in the heart of the high mountains of the Vanoise, a national park in the south-east of France. This mountain campsite is situated at the end of a valley in the Alps. A small river flows through the slightly sloping, terraced terrain. From the spacious touring pitches you have a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Which are extremely suitable for mountain hikers, while in winter especially winter sports enthusiasts will find a good base at the campsite.

Camping between the mountains

The campsite, situated between the high mountains, is rather flat. The little river Le Ponturin crosses the campsite and divides the site in two. On the slightly sloping terraces on both sides of the water there are about seventy spacious touring pitches, from where you have a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and - when camping on a higher part - of the valley. The site breaths nature and peace and quiet. You are away from the hustle and bustle of the city, encapsulated between the Alps.

Restaurant with regional dishes

In the stately main building of the campsite you will find the reception as well as the restaurant. In this attractiverestaurant you can have breakfast and in the evening you can enjoy local Savoyard dishes: cheese fondue, tartiflettes and diots (sausages prepared in white wine). Do you prefer to eat in? Then just pick up a french fry. There is a supermarket in the village, three kilometres away, where you can buy your daily groceries. There is also a bakery in the village.

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - Excellent quiet site with quick shuttle to ski-areas on the doorstep. Kind and helpful couple Miriam and Francois are excellent hosts with excellent English if needed, lovely regional cuisine, warm modern showers, excellent dish- and clothes washing facilities plus good ski-boot room with boot-drying. In addition we had 5 excellent days' ski-instruction with ESF instructor Francois who drove us up to Peisey each day. He is by far the best ski-instructor we have come across out of about 10, strongly recommended if you need one or as a guide.

Liked - Friendly and accommodating . Clean cosy chalet. Francois and Miriam very warm and welcoming. Put up with our poor French. Joined in with Scottish banter on New Year's Eve.
Disliked - Could do with small welcome pack, perhaps a couple of dishwasher tablets and coffee filters ? Nothing major.

Travelling party: Single

Liked - A wonderful community, peacefully located in an exquisite high valley, with easy transport access in one direction to Peisey-Vallandry for downhill skiing and, in the other, later in the year, to the Vanoise National Park. A spectacular tributary of the Isere cascades through and by the site, which salso nests amongst the Ski de Fond tracks. A cosy little bar, a pleasant restaurant, now with great pizzas from the new oven. And, the perfect & friendliest of hosts in Myriam & Francois. I will keep returning until I'm too old to drive the 1000 km from home!

"High-altitude campsite for the real mountain hiker. A fast flowing river divides the site into two. The campsite is situated on a slope with level terraces. Beautiful view of the mountainous surroundings. Access to the Vanoise National Park is 1 km beyond the campsite. Renewed toilet facilities (2018). Adventurous ropes course. Rental of VTT with electrical support."
