Lovely quiet site with good facilities and an excellent restaurant on site, also a pleasant walk into town for a range of different restaurants. Nice welcome at reception.
The staff at this well maintained site were friendly and efficient on arrival, and allowed us to choose our own pitch. The pitches were clearly marked, large and grassy, and some had apple trees. An electric hookup point and water tap we right behind the pitch.
The sanitary block is divided into make and female, with a room full of dishwashing sinks separating them. In the Male side, there were 4 WC cubicles, 3 shower cubicles, 2 washrooms for the disabled, and 4 sinks. The facilities were clean, but no paper or soap were provided. The shower temperature was inconsistent, going from cold to boiling hot to lukewarm, and each press of the button only lasted 8 seconds.
As well as a reception building there is a restaurant/bar, covered swimming pool and children\'s play area. There\'s also a nice little library with seating and included children\'s books.
The pretty village of Le Bec-Hellouin and it\'s abbey are only 1.5km by road, easily walkable, and there is an unmarked shortcut through the woods for on foot. It is downhill all the way, so the walk back is a little more difficult.
This is an ideal site for a stopover, perhaps a couple of nights to allow time to visit Le Bec-Hellouin.
Very welcoming staff, pitches were very large, and well equipped. there seemed plenty of facilties for children, and the tennis court looked good. swimming pool not large but very satisfactory. good snack bar on site and the food well priced. Very good that one was nor overcharged for snacks, ice creams etc, which considering the on site bar/cafe was the only facilty around. pleasant village down hill with grand Abbey but little else there in the pretty village. only fault one could raise, and would be quite easy to resolve, is lack of toilet paper in the toilet blocks, and rudimentary washing facilities but stil an excellent 1/2 night stop over.
We had a warm welcome. There were good sized pitches and we were given free choice as to where to pitch up. The bar was open all day, but it had UK prices. There was free wifi, with no restrictions. The toilets were reasonable, if a little dated. There was no combined wash and shower cabins. Only 1 wash cubicle. There was no toilet paper. Water was only available at the motorhome service point.
This site is a gem. Stayed on this site in May 16 on the way to Germany and June on the way back home. The site is flat and our pitch was in the orchard. Staff very good but little English not a problem. First class restaurant on site and fresh bread daily. Showers and toilets very good. The town of Le Bec Hellouin near by (1km) down hill very good restaurants.
A well kept site and also a very busy one - lots of over nighters. In an excellent position easy to find from the motorway. A lovely short walk through a forest to one of the prettiest villages I have seen in France with an Abbey in a lovely setting. Order your bread from reception and there is a snack bar -
Only stayed for two nights on our way north for the tunnel. Very pleasant and well laid out site. Toilets more than adequate with plenty of hot water. Small bar area with takeaway food. Brionne close by for shopping of essentials. Pitches are now marked out and of a reasonable size. After 7 weeks in France we have to say that it was here we found the best croissants and pain au chocolat!
The staff were very pleasant and friendly. Choose you own pitch. Wifi is supposed to be free across the whole site but in some areas, our pitch, it was very hit and miss, but a walk to reception was not far.
We will certainly return as it is useful as a stopover if nothing more.
At the campsite as I write! We shall be staying for just 2 nights as a stop off on an extended route to Bourges. A very pleasant, quiet site close to a delightful wood and a small Normandy village. A most pleasant welcome. The bar area is good and the service great! The toilet & shower facilities are good and, as said elsewhere, there is a constant supply of hotwater for washing-up, laundry etc. Highly recommended for a short stop-over.
Very friendly welcome. Fresh bread and home made cider available. Nice walk into nearby village Le Bec-Hellouin which had v good restaurant. Indoor swimming pool and tennis courts would have been used if we had stayed longer.
We liked the setting of this campsite - it is on a ridge but reasonably well protected by the forest close by. The welcome was certainly one of the better ones we have had. The facilities were kept clean and were a reasonable standard. We did eat there as a takeaway one night and it was fine. The bar was friendly and fine for this sort of site. The local village is maybe 10 minutes away through the woods and is quite picturesque however there is very little indeed in the way of shops there. There is a cycle route (or footpath) that runs to Evereux from there which would be interesting to explore more of. We will almost certainly return even if we use it as an overnighter on the way back or out.
