In the heart of one of the most beautiful beech forests of France you will find Camping Saint-Paul. This is a great base from which to explore Normandy. Especially for nature lovers. You can start such an excursion virtually from your doorstep, in bustling Lyons-la Fôret, hailed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
The camping site looks peaceful and tranquil and has lovely, generous pitches. These are distributed over a flat terrain on the bank of the La Lieure river, a tributary of the Seine. All pitches are surrounded by bushes and hedges which provide a certain degree of privacy. Furthermore, all pitches have their own parking space. Camping site Saint-Paul also has a fair amount of rental accommodation, such as fully equipped chalets, mobile homes and tents.
Adjacent to the camping site, some 200 m further along, is a communal swimming pool with retractable roof. Camping guests may make free use of this. You can also play mini golf for a fee. A rainy day? Go to the recreation area (with table football game and television). There are also two play areas for children.
Furthermore, the camping site has a pétanque pitch as well as possibilities for volleyball, badminton and table tennis. There is also a large field for soccer tournaments. In the high season, Saint-Paul organises dance evenings, treasure hunts and pétanque competitions. La Lieure offers a nice challenge for anglers, but is prohibited for bathers.
Chips plus plus
Saint-Paul has a bar during the high season. Here you can buy chips, snacks, quiches and ice cream. Take-away meals are also available. At the reception you can only buy a few basic necessities. In nearby Lyons-la Fôret you will find a few shops.

Fabulous location..an oasis of calm..tucked between a meander of the small river and an easy 10-15 min walk into town. We did the town walk the following morning using the brochure given to us by the helpful ladies at reception , after parking outside the barrier. Would have happily stayed here a couple of nights but were on our way home with a Eurotunnel booking 2 days later.
Have been using this site for years as it is a lovely little campsite with a clear stream running through it however when we visited this year new sensor operated light switches had been added to the showers & toilets they were pathetic constantly switching the lights off & plunging you into darkness after only a few seconds. After years of using this site we won’t be returning
Two small, shallow streams run each side of the site, and there is a football field between the site and the road, and a swimming pool to the side. Pitches are a reasonable size and hedged. Some statics. 10 minute walk to lovely little timbered village set around a market square with bars and smart pizza restaurant. Good off-lead dog walk, right out of site, up hill until you see farm selling raw milk, pass that, right, through wood. Right when you reach the road, right again back to site. About 2 or 3 miles. Pick up the Randonee guide at the Tourist Office.
A last minute choice to break the journey & what a little Gem.
Friendly greeting from the two young ladies in Reception who specifically gave us a pitch with a view of the small stream.
All the facilities were very much what you would expect from a municipal site.
But, the best was the small pretty village within walking distance with its bars & restaurants, little bit of a tourist trap, but, by following TripAdvisor we had a superb meal in their number 2 rated restaurant.
Not cheap, but, a very enjoyable meal.
Best campsite by far on this year's trip to France. Extremely helpful staff. Very nice pitch. Lovely surroundings. WILL USE THIS SITE AGAIN!!!!
Beautiful site beside a river. Good sized and well maintained pitches. Good clean sanitary facilities. Plenty of activities for the young including, swimming, football, volleyball and a playground. The quaint village of Lyons is a short 10 minute walk away, with it's half timbered houses and many historic buildings.
