On the southern slopes of Mount Parnassus in Greece lies Delphi Camping. Surrounded by the largest olive groves in Greece and with a beautiful view over the Gulf of Corinth, this campsite has a prime location. The surrounding area has ample typically Greek places, including the harbour cities of Itea (11 km) and Kirra (11 km).

Camping with a view of mountains and sea

What makes Delphi Camping special is the terraced character of the two campsites, providing a flat surface without demarcating the areas. This site, carefully maintained, offers both sunny and shady spots because of the natural shading of trees and reflective mats. The spots at the edge are somewhat smaller, but this is compensated by the lovely view.

Its own swimming pool, restaurant and shop

It can get quite hot in the Greek mountains, which makes it great to be able to go for a swim in the campsite swimming pool. The swimming pool is encircled by shady spots and sun loungers with a view of the surrounding mountains.

The restaurant with terrace serves delicious local dishes and has a permanent exhibition with water colours done by one of the founders of the campsite. For the daily necessities there is a shop that sells, among other things, products from its own olive grove.

An area rich in history

The archaeological diggings of Delphi, on the UNESCO World Heritage List, are only 4 km away. In classical antiquity, Delphi was known as the centre of the world and was the seat of the Oracle of Delphi. Today it is a tourist attraction.

Travelling party: Seniors

Wir suchten einen Durchgangsplatz Richtung Athen mit ACSI und frühen Öffnungszeiten. Wir haben uns für diesen entschieden. Sehr freundliches Personal. Freie Platzwahl und tolles Aussicht auf die Bucht. Essen sehr gut, auch das zur Verkostung angebote Olivenöl und die anderen Produkte. Sanitär wie anderweitig schon beschrieben. Chef geht herum und fragt, ob man am Folgetag Brot etc. benötigt. Sehr aufmerksam. Allerdings wurde unser Aufenthalt durch Tauben in der Brunft massiv beeinträchtigt. So blieben wir nur 1 Tag. Als Platz und Standort absolut zu empfehlen, bis auf die Tauben-Plage.

Ein gut gelegener Platz, um die Ausgrabungsstädte zu besuchen,die zu Fuss in etwas mehr als einer halben Stunde erreichbar ist. Ebenso wird ein Shuttlebus angeboten.
Das Personsl ist sehr freundlich und das hauseigene Olivenöl wurde zur Verkostung angeboten. Die Aussicht über Griechenlands grösster zusammenhängender Olivenhain und den Golf von Korinth ist einmalig.

Wir waren Ende Mai, Anfang Juni auf diesem Platz. Der Blick vom Stellplatz hinunter auf den Golf von Itea war atemberaubend schön. Die Sanitäranlagen sind ein wenig veraltet, aber es war immer sauber. Das Essen im Restaurant war ausgezeichnet. Wir verkosteten das hauseigene Olivenöl.

Die Sanitäranlagen sind total veraltet und werden viel zu wenig gereinigt. Der Eindruck ist unappetitlich. Mit etwas Aufwand könnte es einwenig verbessert werden.

Travelling party: Group of friends

Die Lage mit Sicht über alte Olivenhaine bis zur Bucht von Itea ist schon beeindruckend. Das Restaurant bietet wenige, aber sehr schmackhafte Gericht. Insbesondere der Appetizer aus den hauseigenen Olivenprodukten ist erwähnenswert. Der Platz bietet ein Schwimmbad, welches wir aber nicht genutzt haben. Die Sanitäranlagen sind okay, aber ein wenig Luft nach oben ist da noch.
Vom Platz kann man per Bus oder zu Fuß zur Ausgrabungsstätte Delphi kommen. Die Variante mit dem Bus hin und zu Fuß zurück war schweiss-schonender
