It comes as no surprise that the first thing you see is the spaciousness when you enter campsite De Ruimte from the forest. The owners knew what they were doing when they named their campsite. This beautiful, peaceful family campsite is located in the oldest woodland of Flevoland, a forestry area which used to belong to the State Forestry Commission. The spacious camping pitches are located in open areas in the forest.
As 'De Ruimte' is a family campsite which is visited by a large number of children, the campsite is car-free. The campsite is spaciously laid out in such a way that all facilities are easily accessible to persons with physical disabilities. The pathways are paved to make the entire campsite as wheelchair-friendly as possible.
Sand and water
Both the sanitary facilities and playground equipment are perfectly suitable for children with disabilities. This includes the water playground as well as the sandpits which are both fully wheelchair accessible. In addition to the shallow swimming pool, there are water tables and sand tables, all kinds of water play equipment and sprayers, a horizontal swing, hammock swing and wheelchair see saw.
Furthermore, virtually any conceivable equipment is either available on the campsite, or can can be hired upon request. For instance: tandems, electric wheelchair cargo bikes, hoists and hi-low beds.
Even more water fun
Located between Dronten and Kampen, this campsite is the perfect base for both nature and culture lovers. The area around the campsite is ideal for walking and cycling. Less than one km away is the Drontermeer, one of the lakes bordering Flevoland. The Drontermeer feeds into the Ketelmeer in the north and into the Veluwemeer in the south. The border lakes, with their clear swimming water and clean, peaceful sandy beaches, are an ideal destination for a day on or by the water.
