Camping site De Krabbeplaat is a perfect spot for a camping holiday by the water. This family camping site with own beach and private harbour is located directly on Lake Den Briel. From here, it is only a fifteen minute drive to the Maasvlakte beach on the North Sea. There are all sorts of activities for the entire family on the campsite. While the children jump around on the bouncy castle or play a game of soccer at the water's edge, you can shows off your skills at a game of tennis. Or get onto the water: learn waterskiing or explore Lake Den Briel in a boat.

Separate touring pitches

With some 360 permanent pitches, the camping site relies mainly on its annually returning guests. However, you will not be bothered by this as a touring camper. Almost seventy touring pitches are located on grassy fields on a separate section of the camping site, apart from the permanent pitches. Are you here without camping equipment? If so, the luxury and fully furnished safari tents or the cosy trekker huts will appeal to you.

Lake Den Briel

Camping site De Krabbeplaat is located directly on the banks of Lake Den Briel. A section of the lake is demarcated for swimmers and you can get further onto the water in a rowing boat, sailing boat or canoe from the water ski school. If you want to bring your own boat, you can moor it in the private harbour of the camping site. You can also cast a line without being disturbed. There are separate fishing jetties on the lake.

For children

Theatre shows, treasure hunts, sports tournaments: entertainment for children is offered on a large scale on the camping site. Additionally, besides the playground and sports fields, there is a petting zoo with deer and goats and children can race around the camping grounds in go-carts.

Travelling party: Seniors

We visited this site at the start of storm Lorenzo and Monsoon type rain. We used it, as it was only 5 miles from the Rotterdam to Hull Ferry. It was an easy route in towing a caravan, straight off the motorway.
It was the end of season so one would expect everything to be closed but wasn’t. We were greeted by very friendly staff who spoke excellent English. The site we were given was large enough for our caravan, awning and car. We were close to a well appointed toilet and shower block with individual and family showers. . This had washing up sinks as well as coin operated dish washers to use.
The site has a children’s petting zoo with deer, and other animals An avery with love birds, budgies, Cockatiels and various other exotic birds. Around the site where lots and lots of nesting boxes so I imagine in spring, the site would we more of a spring watch, nature park. In summer there is a small ferry too take you from this site across to the town of Brielle. This is beautiful and well worth a visit. The site even at this late stage of the season had a good sized supermarket. A pub open, on Friday evenings and weekends. Except for the monsoons it would have been great for cycling there are several good routes. Walking around the site and looked at its beaches and swimming area, and children’s playground it was well worth a visit. In a warmer month it would have been fantastic. We found the campsite Wi-Fi to be inexpensive and very good.
We will be visiting again in the warmer months to see the site in its full potential. Possibly taking our grandchildren, as there was more than enough there, to keep them occupied. It is a well run Family owned site; which is family orientated.
We were made to feel very welcome. Even in the Monsoons.
