t about 20.10 pm when this seems to be limited to about 10 minutes maximum. Now for local church clock which isn't really a clock but a local church van playing the time over a tannoy, about 3 minutes before the hour. This is later followed by unknown hymns and chanting from presumably a Roman Catholic source but it sounds rather authentic... Now for the grand revelation of this sight. If you have a dog, listen carefully "Do NOT take it on the dog walk". This is because in the wildlife area behind the camp-site the long grass is full of a variety of venomous snakes of all sizes and there is a very good chance that if the dog is off the lead then it could be bitten. If this review appears comical then it is not intended. It is an open and honest review and if you wan't to tempt providence and waste your money, make your own choice. It's up to you but we have provided an unbiased review.
Terrible place, greeted by George and a drunken Dutchman who boasted at being the site entertainment and who kept helping himself to drinks from behind the bar. Not a good first impression. Very disgusting behaviour. Tried to charge us extra for a car so had to negotiate price. Site has lots of species of snakes in wildlife area, according to helpful Dutch neighbours. Facilities tired and worn out. Intended to stay for 2 weeks, left after 3 days, too tired to move before. We wish we could have turned round as soon as we got there but too tired to find another place to go to. Isolated and remote, no restaurant. Area beautiful, lousy camp site, won't return.
A welcoming glass of wine on arrival was a perfect way to settle into this site. Beautiful surroundings if you like to get away from it all and following their marked walks around the area was an added bonus. Thank you Jorge & Lyida for making us welcome.
Lovely, peaceful campsite with first class staff. Highly recommended
I cannot comment on food, drink, sports or child friendly as we did not use any of these facilities being an older couple. We arrived the end of April and the pool wasn’t open yet.
Jorge gave is a very warm welcome too the site and he supplied us with plenty of information both about the site and the locality.
Pitches were large though because it is a tiered site come are not level but it wasn’t a major problem. Toilets were clean and enough of them for the size of site. Please note that no toilet paper is provided but this seems normal for sites in Europe. It really is one of the most peaceful sites we have been on and we couldn’t rate it highly enough. The directions in the book are well worth noting and very accurate.
Jorge and his family go out of their way to help you.
There are no shops in the village but there are other villages nearby to get a small amount of supplies and with restaurants. We went for a lovely meal at the restaurant in Lamas recommended by the site.
Worth visiting are the Village of Lapa and the beautiful town of Viseu.
if you want views, walks, fpeace and riendliness... this is the site for you..Our fourth visit and, despite dreadful weather on this visit. our favourite site in Portugal and Spain....High praise indeed.. but in our view well deserved!
The friendly welcome was a very pleasant surprise. The owners and staff are very helpful and the atmosphere is wonderful. Our first time here - it won\'t be our last.
A lovely quiet site run by a couple who speak fluent dutch, hence the vast majority of the clientele hail from the Netherlands. The couple are very welcoming and friendly..
Spacious and adequate pitches in sun, shade or a mixture.
Toilets are adequate, always very clean. Lovely swimming pool.
Two bread vans visit the site daily.
If you are there on barbeque night, do go, it is great value.
Found this site more or less by accident. Set in lovely countryside. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely return.
Fabulous campsite, welcoming hosts with a drink on arrival and information given about the campsite and surrounding area. Bar/Café has a lovely terrace with beautiful views, theme evenings for meals. Pitches were unmarked and plenty of choice and option depending on what you prefer. Very dog friendly (no list of rules!). The marked walks (with maps and coloured markers to follow) were amazing and a choice of lengths and type - through traditional rural villages and through pine forests. A beautiful area and a peaceful campsite.
