The Playa Arenillas campsite is half an hour's drive from the beautiful city of Bilbao. In total, this campsite has 120 pitches and some rental options: two mobile homes and six tents. When the tide is low, a sandy beach appears next to the campsite. A little further is another sandy beach. There are various beautiful cycling and walking routes around the campsite. The children will also enjoy themselves on the large playground. In the morning you can go to the campsite for fresh bread and in the evening the paella is recommended in the campsite restaurant.
The flat terrain of the campsite is subdivided into different pitches. Regular guests are generally more at the back and tourist pitches are at the front of the campsite. The site has large plots with space for 120 pitches. The sanitation is neatly arranged by the campsite staff. There are also some rental options. The campsite has a total of two mobile homes, with two rooms and a kitchenette. And the campsite also has six tents available.
Right next to the campsite, at the foot of a high mountain, a sandy beach appears at low tide. A normal sandy beach is about one kilometre away. At high tide this is the ideal terrain for surfers. Surfboards can be rented at the campsite for a fun day.
Children will have fun at the campsite's large playground. They can clamber in the play equipment or play a game of table tennis. There are also various walking and cycling routes around the campsite. These routes are of medium difficulty and ideal for exploring the neighbourhood.

Great location close to fabulous beach - low tide - rocky and not easy to get into the sea - high tide - huge sandy beach allowing you to walk to nearest village which we did on the sunday for the market. Keep and eye on the tides tho. Good facilities - lovely food in restaurant and friendly staff. Close ports for last few days of holiday.
Visited for 3 nights. Warm welcome although limited English spoken. Large camping area approx. half of which are 'static' vans used by locals. Can be busy at weekends.
Good restaurant on site food quality very good reasonable cost. Access to beach via through restaurant premises.
Toilet/Shower facilities although clean are very dated and cramped.
Convenient site on route to both Santander and Bilbao ferry routes. Would visit again but only for stop overs.
Rather open, characterless site but close to beach and good restaurants. Friendly staff and decent shop. Two buses needed to reach Bilbao and no late buses.
The location is great being only 100m from a lovely bay. As well as restaurant/bar on site a couple of others also within walking distance . Only stayed 1 night as catching ferry next day but we will return to the area. Site was quiet otherwise toilet/showers would have been stretched. Plenty of hot water and clean but becoming dated in comparison with other ASCI sites. Did hear dogs barking on occasion during the day but quiet at night.
Campsite is between the mountains and the sea; beach just a few minutes walk. Steep access to site. Ideal site if travelling to or from the ferry at Santander.
Initial welcome poor with no site layout offered or . adequate information result getting stuck at a dead end. Site noisy from A8 road traffic and also from constantly barking dogs in adjacent houses even throughout the night. Noisy over the weekend with pitched vehicles very close together. Would really only recommend for overnight stop on way to and from ferry although area around is well worth exploring.
Located by a lovely bay but not much else around. Toilets and showers clean but really dated. A lot of old static caravans vans used on long term basis by locals. Made it feel like we were on a travellers site. Ok as a one night stop.
An interesting site, very outdated basic toilet facilities which were always clean but looked like the setting for a period film. The staff were friendly but spoke limited English. The bay is great for swimming at high tide. We caught a bus into Castro Urdialles which is a great town to visit and there was good information on the site for exploring the area.
