Camping Gran Sol is situated in the north of Spain, just south of Andorra. Here you find the Spanish Pyrenees towering over the landscape as well as the capricious Segre river. Camping site Gran Sol is an ideal spot for active campers. The area is ideal for outdoor activities: a brisk hike through the Spanish mountain landscape or rafting down the wild river.
Level camping pitches
From the entrance you can see the town of Montferrer, high atop the mountain overlooking the camping site. You can see the mountains all around camping site Gran Sol, but the camping site itself is in a level area. The grounds are well organised: you camp on spacious pitches which are shaded by planted trees.
Cooling off in the pool
After a long mountain walk in the Spanish sun, a refreshing dive is just what you need. The spacious swimming pool is just the ticket to cool down. Perfect for swimming a few laps. At times there is a lively atmosphere, at other times it can be surprisingly quiet.
The camping site has a small shop which stocks a few items. You can do your daily shopping in La Seu d'Urgell, located at some three km from the camping site. However, before you start preparing a meal, have a look at the extensive restaurant menu.
Hiking and rafting
At camping site Gran Sol you camp in a magnificent area which is extremely suitable for a number of outdoor activities. You can walk (or ride your mountain bike) from the camping site straight into the mountains. To paraphrase: 'and what goes up must come down'. By paragliding, for instance. The Segre river, a few hundred metres from the camping site, has a rather capricious nature. Ideal for rafting.

Could be a really nice place easy to find on the main road to Andorra but left to go to seed. Reception only open 3.pm to 7.pm. Got there and plugged in, all fine for first couple of hours then the power cuts out and we are told need to up grade to 6amp for extra. The toilets were very basic, no lights, loo seats and not very clean but the biggest problem was ALL through the night local dogs kept baking and I mean ALL through the night. Reception told us it was a problem they knew of. As you HAVE to pay the day before you leave and they don't open till 3.pm you have to pay for a second day instead of going in the morning which we would have done.In the town a nice aire with plug in and water would be a better stop. Would NOT stay here again
The site was good with marked pitches. Electrics available in two options and although we paid for the higher rate we had a problem and realised we had only been set up for the lower rate.
Staff spoke english but not enough to help when we could not find drinking water and she kept telling us to use the tap that said 'no drinking water', there was only one other tap and that was above the chemical toilet waste point.
There was a pool but it did not have water in it. Hot day at the end of May and we had been on a site in Spain for five nights with a pool fully operating.
Un camping excelente, trato muy amable, zonas amplias, entorno bellísimo.. sobre la misma carretera..
Site is set in beautifull surroundings, only stopped for 1 night as stopover to Cambrils, seemed a nice site. Only problem was electric kept going off, really only good for charger and fridge, anything else would trip it out, had to keep going to reception to get lady to get it back on, so was a bit of a pain. Good overnight stop, so will return this April.
A well located campsite for visiting Andorra and has large grass pitches. The toilet facilities were good and well maintained but would benefit from more regular cleaning. Free wifi was a bonus. The restaurant was good with very friendly and helpful staff, although they spoke Catalan and very little else.
