Approximately 100 km south of Barcelona you will find the quiet, child-friendly family camping site Joan Cat.2, close to the historic former fishing village of Cambrils. The camping site is located right at one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Costa Dorada. This spot is ideal for campers who like to enjoy Spanish beaches in peace.
Tall pine trees
The grounds look well kept with pitches of varying size. There are numerous mulberry trees offering ample shade, but you can also opt for a pitch in the sun. Note to owners of campers: quite a few pitches have low hanging branches. Want to hire something? There is a vast range of different mobile homes, studios, apartments and bungalows.
The cosy, round swimming pool is especially suitable for children to cool off. It is also ideal for water aerobics, swimming a few lengths is more difficult, unfortunately. You will find nice wooden decking around the swimming pool and there are ample sun loungers with the odd sun umbrella here and there. The sea close to the camping site is suitable for children: the vast beach slopes gently into the sea. Breakwaters provide calm water.
There is a playground for children and lots of entertainment for all ages. You can also use the fitness room and there is a choice of massages. Walking and cycling enthusiasts will be very happy with the number of trails in the area.
The camping site restaurant has a small menu with good quality dishes. From the restaurant you have a nice view over the camping site. Just outside the camping grounds you will find more eating establishments, with a sea view as a bonus.

A lovely, friendly site next to a beautiful beach. We stayed for 7 nights at end May - beginning of June. We had initial difficulty getting onto two pitches because of low tree branches and eventually made do with a smaller-sized corner pitch but adequate for our short stay. The washing up area relied upon solar power for water heating but, despite constant sunshine, I failed to succeed in getting any hot water. The toilets & shower block was regularly cleaned and had adequate supplies of hot water. The electricity supply is only 5 amps but this did not present a problem. WiFi was reasonably priced and good. The mini supermarket had a fair selection and the bread was excellent! We had a couple of meals in the camp restaurant - good service and good food but rather expensive. There is a superb beach side restaurant about 5 minutes walk from the campsite which we preferred - offering a much better and excellent menu and great service at a similar cost. A beautiful location and we highly recommend the campsite.
The Camping is great. Everything is fine. I think this is more than a three stars Camping.
Couple + Car + 7m Caravan
Reception & Staff were excellent, access to some of the pitches with my 12m outfit was very tight, motor mover is essential. The mature overhanging trees were a little scary particularly as I had had a collision with one at another location. Access to the beach is good and cycling into Cambrils & Salou is safe and easy.
Cambrils is not too big and has a nice feel to the place, especially around the harbour.
A very minor point, but when we paid on departure, we were not offered the choice to pay in Euro's or GBP , so we paid a service charge on our GBP payment.
First impressions are very important and this one does that, the lady in reception was so so pleasant I would have stayed regardless. The shower and toilets are lovely and very clean, the pitches are great very spacious. The location is fantastic so well worth a visit.
